What did everyone think of the show last night? I Thought it was too over the top. Were there any
tables to do projects? I don't think the Mom liked
it either.

Mom Caves, huh? Hadn't heard of it. Is it a place for mothers to go to escape their families?

I think I check out this board more than I check out HGTV these days. Surely, there's a support group somewhere for such an affliction.

While I'm in agreement that Moms (as well as everyone) need a place to just decompress for a bit, the whole concept sort of bothers me. I was one of those Moms who taught the kids at an early age that my bedroom was MINE - they only came in if invited or if it were an emergency. If you need a place to hide from your family other than simply saying "I need some quiet time" and shutting your bedroom door for awhile, you have (IMO) more problems than just having a fancy "MOM CAVE" is going to solve.

ITA, doodles. That's one of the reasons most masters have a lock on the door, IMHO.

WRT this program, only caught the reveal on the pop art episode. Hated the soup cans. It appeared they significantly reduced the volume/available space in the room - closing it in. Believed they could have provided far more practical storage. Besides that, ITA, where was the work area for painting and crafting?

Overall, MC appears to be a vehicle for Mrs. Stern to play designer (on camera, only - I'm sure) and audition for RH or something else. Love the way she works on her enunciation and the multiple outfit changes (hahaha) when they're supposedly shopping on a single day.

And, she's going to keep in touch with each and every one of these NJ mothers?? Don't wait by the phone, anybody.

As usual, JMHO.

So far I can't really get into this show. I would not want a room like the one they did with soup cans.

This show reminds me of an old show with Tanya where she took the homeowners on a trip and sent back pictures for the design team to use for inspiration in decorating the home.

I really wish they would stop playing this all together... or at least during the evening. I LOVE to come home and watch HGTV and this show is terrible! The design ideas are just silly. This is really not something that I will be watching and I HATE having to switch over to something else every time this comes on!!!

I remember that show - can't think of the name of it but it was awful. I'm inspired by Tuscany but can't quite see putting that into a room in a regular house. where's Donna when I need her? (that is a joke)

The latest show was a Nautical kitchen and dinning room. They had a porthole over the tv.
I think that was a little over the top. Did anyone else see it?

Just finished watching it. I'm not much into extreme makeovers where rooms are theme-based. Just strikes me as something you'd want to change out in a year. I liked the color of the back splash. Quite cheerful.

Based on this show, a mom cave is somewhere for Mom to be surrounded by everyone, just in a nicer setting.

Hi, I'm new to this site and I missed the last episode of Mom Caves--the Nantucket kitchen episode. I really wanted to see it based on the reviews I've read. Does anyone know when they'll air it again? Or if it is available online?

Thanks! Veronica

Did anyone watch last nights episode? I had to laugh when the Mom didn't like her planned makeover. Too tacky, but I didn't like he finished design either. The homeowner seemed happy, but I don't believe it.

Just so others will know which show you're talking about, it's the Racing Mom's Cave.

The initial design was heavily into a car theme. But the woman liked to race cars; she didn't think it had a place in design. I thought this first design was almost juvenile. The woman had simple tastes and she had to battle against what the designers liked to get what she found suitable.

I'm glad she liked the gas pump. I didn't think she would. What was dumb to me was the traffic sign. Who sees such signs when racing?

This show is pure fluff and not very entertaining. Mom Cave? Really? I don't consider a newly renovated kitchen a Mom Cave. It's a necessary room in your home that does not involve relaxation in the sense of the overly-used, way-past-its-expiration-date term of "cave". A craft room, I can see. But a kitchen? I'd be insulted.

My Dear Charles, I thank you for the above quoted word! Please know that I will be using it liberally when I write in discontent.
