Did you see last night's show? The home didn't sell, and the owner was going to get help from her family. She was divorced with twin boys, one of whom they thought may have cancer. Thankfully he did not. She was very emotional.

Added to say a home like that in the northeast would be on the market for about $900,000.

I saw it and scratched my head in amazement. It is evident that "Felecia" the homeseller had a lot of understandable)emotional issues to overcome, which tells me she wasn't really motivated or ready to sell her house.

Her emotional attachment to the house impeded her ability to think rationally. She sabotaged her own best interests. That is why, in the end, the house did not sell. Kudos to the ever-patient-by-half real estate listing agent, who in the end, did her best.

What I like about "Buy Me" is that it shows the home selling process, warts and all. It lets us look inside the motivations, emotions and actions of the seller, in a close up and personal way -- as opposed to the glossy and glossed-over happy talk formula of House Hunters.

Sometimes the homeseller is not a very likeable person, sometimes the agent is a tyro. However, the "Buy Me' producers always manage to find compelling real-life characters with nteresting back-stories and complicated situations that ring true. People are the main characters, not their properties. It is about the only real estate show worth watching on HGTV.

yeah, when I think back about buying the 2 houses we did....there were a number of complications. Both places had me on a roller coaster....buying a house you are nuts about is one of the most emotional experiences you can ever have.

Yes, Philicia had some serious issues going on. My realtor would not have been so easy on me, I don't think. There is no way she would have allowed me to list my house for a higher price than comps in the area, especially in light of all the issues her house had. The wallpaper alone would have sent a lot of people running, not to mention the wood rot she had in several places and outdated fixtures. It was very unrealistic for her to have kept that house to start with, but she did have her reasons. I don't know how her boys were better off for living in that house while she slowly went broke - and worked as a barista when she had a law degree! I think there was a little denial going on there . . .
