I wish I had known it was going to come back -- I'd have applied to be on the show. Something like this is the only way I'd ever be able to take my son on vacation.
------------------------------------------------ I've been around...well, all right, I might not have been around, but I've been....nearby. -from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"
I have to wonder - knowing it takes a bit of time to set up the filming, exactly how long are the families on vacation? I would not consider it much of a vacation if I had to spend 2 or 3 days filming so I could get to spend 4 nights at a luxury place.
MsWildhack - We have a found money account we use to save for vacations. If I get a refund for purchasing something, an extra few dollars each month, money from things I sell on Craigslist, plus all the change we save during the year will go into that one account.
If your son has an allowance of any kind - let him put some money into a vacation jar for doing something special. That will get him involved in saving and planning.
A vacation doesn't have to be a thousands of dollars blow out in some exotic place. Depending on where you live - 3 or 4 days in another city at a mid range hotel - Holiday Inn Express, everyone lives close to some place that other people think is a tourist destination, will seem like a big deal to younger children.
WHY show a newly wed couple 3-4 bedrooms and room for 8-10? You think they would know that newlyweds are interested in intimacy NOT a huge space to get lost in? I like the show, but geeshhhhh show some sense
