Why??? They seem like very nice people. Their kids are good looking and well behaved, so I think. Their design...I can't come up with a word to describe that mess. On the first episode of season2, I never heard of the Food Network show, but that does not matter. The carpet they chose was so busy, and laid so poorly, it looked horrible. Hanging bed from the ceiling, kind of unique idea, but will get old quickly. They had enough room for a walk in closet, and they asked for more closet space, in Novogratz terms...add a few shelves. I honestly can't believe someone would hire them to do their home.

Agreed. After last season, I turned the channel to avoid the show last night. Not sure if there is a style name, but I called it bizarre.

It's not you, Steve. I cannot understand the fuss made over the Novogratz's. Personal charm cannot compensate for their hot mess style. It goes beyond kitsch: it's just cheap and cheesy-looking.
It's like let's see how much crap we can get away with, while we're still young and cute.

Agreed. They're a very attractive couple with precocious kids, but maybe they need to focus on an unconventional parenting show? Smile

Neither of them are trained in design which they will freely admit. I don't see a big difference between their style and the Junk Gypsies, except perhaps the N's are more urban. The carpet tiles are from a company called Flor which makes their tile from recycled old carpet. The company is very popular with "green" designers. The tiles are sold with the caveat that the patterns will not line up and the ad hoc quality is part of the product. The N's style is indeed not for everyone, but these rooms, for me anyway, are no more of a mish mash than fang puss Emily.

Hi Aychi, I guess I should follow up by saying I wouldn't let them anywhere near my place, I just think in comparison to other options on the station the N's are at least entertaining. The hubby always says he could imagine the N's in a bar brawl ( which is why he likes them ). Looking at Robert's nose that seems entirely plausible. Courtney looks like she might have a decent right hook, or at least be handy with a beer bottle.

ROTFLMAO! I can just hear them say: "Hey, you talkin' to me?"

I think they have played the biggest joke ever on HGTV by getting them to give them a show. They must be laughing all the way to the bank.

I agree Soosie. I can't believe they get paid for what they do. I should be able to have my own show if this is all it takes. UGH. Hey - they should get together with Property Bros, and the Kitchen Cousins to have a 3 way contest on who can design the worst room!!! Now, that would be a show.

They are awful! Always the same formula in every freaking design! Floor tiles, painted stairs, words on walls, blown up pics.Awful, awful, awful!!!
Their design style is "tacky hipster". Please do not re-new this show again!

I love the Novogratz, Emily Henderson & SFAS show and Junk Gypsy. For me it's about time we get some vintage, flea market type shows and enough with the high end design that only the 1% can achieve or $500 and under shows that always looked cheap (even though I do like those shows too). I guess I'm just a design junky because I love everything and anything related to interior design.

Last nights show was awful! Another blown up pic,art from friends (the rooster I could draw!) and chandeliers. They also used an american flag as a drape.I did not appreciate that at all.A total disaster.

Watching this week's episode. Will somebody please come get these people and put them out of my misery? Yes, I could change the channel and will make a point of doing so next time.

The only thing they've put into this room that I think is even marginally good is the picture of the kids.

However, the HO's seem to love it and called it "magical" - ummmm, well....

I loved the ceilings and chandeliers. The little girls bed was beautiful too. The Linda Mason art came out phenomenal!

I guess their designs are ok at first but when you watch them over the long haul, its almost like they try too hard to be different...and they keep using words like "young" and "hip"...but in reality they are over 40...they end up looking a little silly....lol

I agree with you mgo287. They try way,way to hard to be young and trendy.Nothing is sillier than an aging hipster. I actually think the hubby has no teeth and wears dentures! He needs to tone down his hipster vibe.It is not working, cocoon.

They are complete hacks, and frankly, their "charm" is wearing a bit thin. They are a little bit too pleased with themselves for the low quality work they do. I hope this season is the last.

Notice the only positive post is from a first time poster. Aunt? Uncle? Mother? I wonder which one it is.

Did anyone see the latest episode? The apt. for
the 2 guys was ok except for the chandlier and
the old school locker for storage. The locker
didn't seem appropiate for their space and what
was the chandlier made of? It looked like it would
be hard to clean.

I caught the last few minutes of the show and I
believe they said the chandelier was made of felt.

now that's appropriate over as dining room table and next to the kitchen...NOT!

This design was actually OK to me except for that bright white blob in the middle of the space. I normally don't care for the entire design they produce but have seen a couple of interesting ideas so I do watch it.

I am surprised after all the hulabaloo about Meg's voice that no one has complained about CourtneySmile

I think the chandelier would be a dust bunny nightmare since felt sticks to other things. It might look cool the first month it is up, but after that it would be unsanitary. Ditto for the old lockers. I wouldn't want my dishes in a rusty old locker.
