This is actually a response to Aychi, from a C.T.A. post, that went a little off topic. I seem to be terribly bored by most of the programmming on HGTV. Since this has been my go to station for several years, I'm wondering if I'm just bored, or if others feel the station has changed.

I really noticed it last night watching White Room Challenge. I could have easily turned it off half way through. It just seemd to follow so many other "challnge" style program formulas. ( and the contestants are not nearly as entertaining as Rupaul's Drag Race!)Anyone else feeling the same?

One reason for your ennui might be because you are in the midst of working on a decorator showhouse room. So, after spending hours working with your colleagues (old and new)and becoming immersed in the process of putting together beautiful rooms in a beautiful setting furnished from a variety of sources, I could see why you'd find watching HGTV a bit of a let-down. And, don't you find that most of the HGTV shows take themselves a wee bit too seriously?

Either that, or you are just dog-tired and don't have the energy to keep your eyelids open long enough to watch a so-so decorating TV show.

If you haven't already watched Jeff Lewis Interior Therapy or Million Dollar Listings:NY, give them a shot: Over-the-top and totally unselfconscious personalities, off-the-wall story lines and occasionally good design. But, the shows are full of p*ss and vinegar and you'll find yourself laughing out loud.

Many thanks for such an incisive explanation. I must say riding a personal roller coaster of emotions would be a great explanation for my weariness.

Maybe I just need a break from design altogether for a while.

BTW I have seen Jeff Lewis, I found myself instantly hating him, but as the show progressed his abrasive cockiness became rather funny.Good call.

I agree. ^

At first I thought: Why would anyone take the abuse Jeff Lewis dishes out to his employees?

But after I watched a few more episodes, I saw his generosity and sensitivity and I began to find him funny and charming. Wink

Feel the same way about Jeff Lewis! First time I saw him, I was turned off. Now my hub and I use his lines against one another to great humor. Smile)

Re hgtv programming - I love it still. White box tho, haven't seen. Not so much? David b's so cute though
