One of my absolute favorite designers, Christopher Lowell, is on Fine Living - a sister network of HGV.
Since DIY, HGTV, and FL sometimes crossover their shows do you think there's any chance CL could be shown -- even if it's only EVENTUALLY -- on HGTV? I hope you all this so...but give it to me straight if you DON"T think that could happen. No need in getting my hopes up. |

IMHO, it is evident to me that HGTV is encouraging a younger demographic audience. I think the likelihood of Christopher Lowell coming to HGTV is slim or none. I think his style might be too sophisticated for this channel. In watching his shows, I remember that his designs are more traditional. This past year most of the designers, with the exception of Candice , lean toward comtemporary styles. Hence the furniture, accessories are purchase from Pier 1, ZGallerie, Ikea and the Pottery Barn.

I would dearly love to see Christopher (my all time favorite without whom I'd still be living in a boring white box and not have the great career he inspired me to go after) on HGTV since so many on this board cannot get Fine Living. However, I do have a feeling that since he has his own production company and probably is pretty well independent of micromanaging, he and the HGTV gurus might butt heads too much to really be able to see him on. I know I've said this before, but what really appeals to me about him is, apart from his great design sense, he is a kind person and encourages everyone to add beauty to their living space, no matter how small their budget.

Great topic!
Christopher Lowell inspired me to decorate my bedroom first in my latest house. (I have redone four houses and the bedroom is always last.) He was right! You need your bedroom to be a retreat at the end of the day and the first thing you see in the morning. I have even spent money on one of his books. That has to be the greatest compliments. Unfortunately, I don't get the Fine Living Channel. This message has been edited. Last edited by: bubbasqueen, |

After seeing "Outside the Box" this week, I am convinced that, in words from the Elvis era, "Style has left the building!" Throwing together pieces of old billboards and cheap plastic seems to be the new direction. If you want some quick and cheap fixup tips, HGTV has lots to share. If you want design that wows, well, you might try Fine Living for the one or two shows currently running there, but real design shows seem be scarce as hens' teeth. This message has been edited.
