Today as I was taking out some of my fall decorations, I was reminded of how much I used to enjoy watching shows like Room by Room where Matt and Shari would share new crafty ideas for decorating for the different seasons. It was nice to get ideas from them and learn how to make some of the seasonal decorations ourselves. They probably post some to these projects to their website but I used to look forward to watching them on TV. They were inspiring and I got a lot of great ideas from them.
I completely agree with you. I loved Room By Room. There are no shows on HGTV today that can even begin to compare to the older decorating shows. I hope that all these real estate and reality shows will soon run their course and we will be once again be blessed with the fine quality shows of the likes of Kitty Bartholomew and Christopher Lowell.
I was thinking of all the programs that used to be on the various channels - TLC and Discovery hosted some very informative shows. Not just Christopher Lowell but Lynette Jennings and there was a great craft show on one of the channels hosted by a former Miss Oklahoma. Odd, I cannot remember her name but remember that little factoid.
Luv,Luv,Luv Sensible Chic we got so many great ideas from that show that people were were asking how we did it, I am not a great carpenter, but I can put together some pretty neat furniture BRING IT BACK PLEASE

Okay I finally found it. Shows what a person will retain.
The host of the show Home Matters on the Discovery Channel was Susan Powell. Not only was she a Miss Oklahoma, she went on to win the Miss America Pagent that year.
I wish HGTV would show the 2nd and 3rd season of the Vanilla Ice project. I don't get DIY in my cable system so I miss it. I saw season 1 on HGTV and enjoyed it. Rob has a good eye for design, and his landscaping skills are great. Rob was a guest judge on DS earlier this year so HGTV must feel he has something to offer. Other than Buying and Selling, HGTV doesn't have any flipping shows.
I miss Miles of Style-Kim was great- Probably one of the most imaginative decorators-she used many unusual items. I made my "drapes" from the white camoflouge she had-It is great. Friends have used it and even a shop owner in New England was interested-I gave her the number and she ordered it.BRING KIM BACK_and on a regular basis. janetet
this is not about a show, but about being able to enter the contests-is anyone else having problems with filling out the forms? I have entered for years and never had a problem-this year it is not letting my entry in because they don't "approve" of my phone number! I made public comment 2 or 3 times-no one in charge notices. How does one get to the people running the site? janetet
I don't know what everyone else thinks about the lineups for the last couple of years, BUT I don't find anything to watch at night. Too many real estate shows--competitive & reality shows are boring & may not be in line with your followers. Same old thing, night after night. Give us back some gardening & realistic decorating shows. More Candace & Sarah--more "fix-it" shows.
