I loved the room and the storage bed- so when I saw Sabrina looking online for it, I made a mental note and looked it up.

Good news: I found the bed. (West Elm) Bad news... it is apparently no longer available.

I know that there is a bit of lag time between the filming of a show and the airing.... but it's disappointing when I see something on the show that I really like, only to find out it is no longer available.

Wasn't there two versions of the bed -- the expensive one and then the reasonable one? You can't find either one still available? That was a neat concept for a bed. I really thought her low end version would be a bed frame with drawers underneath and was surprised she found a reasonably priced version of the same concept.

Saw the end of that program. The pivot bed's available from multiple sources at various price points. The info's online.

I like the concept of the show, and I think Sabrina is very talented. I do think it is odd to compare something like a hand planed solid walnut piece of furniture with a particle board and low grade powder coated steel piece made at a factory in a country with underpaid workers and little or no pollution control.

Most Americans want a clean environment for their kids and insist on the legislation that provides for the safe disposal of hazardous materials. So it always cracks me up that the people who have saddled the American manufacturers with laws and regulations which add to the high price of U.S. made furniture are the first people shopping at Target for Chinese/ Asian made bargains.

Tomatoqueen, if you are still looking for a lift storage bed, Overstock.com has a Tiffany platform lift storage bed. I bought one for my son and he loves it. It is great for extra storage!

I checked out Overstock. It looks pretty good, but the sellout risk is high- which doesn't give me much time for thinking.

I also wish that I could get the lift/platform without the headboard. But maybe I could sell the headboard on Craigslist?

Agree, Charles. Besides the eco and humanitarian factors, I greatly preferred the high-end dresser's quality. Substituting Ikea for the Mitchell Gold/Bob Williams piece didn't cut it, IMHO.

If I wasn't blessed enough to afford the high-end dresser outright, I'd rather save up until I could purchase it. Nope - won't do Target furniture. No way, no how -

Tomato, I ran a shopping bot under pivot storage bed and saw probably 4-5 options, starting at $399. At least one of them, the low-end, was a traditional retailer.

I apologize for not saving it (or remembering the info) but I already knew my system doesn't jive with the HGTV function keys/links. Good Luck!

TQ, I didn't see the show but I see you mentioned lift storage bed. Is this the one where you lift up the section with the mattress and there is storage underneath?

If so, as talented as you are, you can make it yourself. A little wood, hinges and lift roda (like are on the tailgate of a SUV) and you are set.

metwo- yes, that's the bed. It's a cool concept, and perfect for my daughter who is living in the basement and short on space. With the right hardware and a good look at how it works, yes, I could make it. But sometimes it suits me to just spend a little money. I'm not sure where this particular project falls.... I'm still working on my mudroom-in-a-box, and my other daughter has requested a headboard. (always busy with a project, I am!)

astroluvr- I'll have to check the shopping bot option. When I did a google search I just found the same west elm bed over and over (it was quite the popular item in bloggerland). Thanks for the tip.

Yup, I understand. As I age I find spending a little money suits a bit more often.

If you can find a cheap platform bed, a sawzal would make quick work of separating it. The only thing, you must be sure you get the lift rods that will support that weight... not hard to find actually, but just paying attention to detail.
