Here'a a placeholder for comments on S02/Ep03.

Sounds like a nice change and a light offering for summer. Also sounds easier than last week's humongous (Sp?) family room!

P.S. What was all that fist-bumping, etc. between SS and Chris last week? Trying to appeal to younger viewers by being hip and cool??

Saw her on the Revolution the other day with Ty. Are they going together or what? They seem more than friends....could be my imagination....LOL!

I just caught the last few minutes of this - will have to watch it again, however from what I saw it didn't seem to be a great success.

I did not see the whole thing but I remember the homeowners wanted a coatroom and a place to put boots/shoes. The 'before showed maybe 5-6 coats hanging (they have kids) and at least as many shoes.

The end result gave them one coat tree. EEEK. The first kid to use it will dump the tree over. Then it will never hold the number of coats that were there before. I did not see anyplace for boots but I amy have missed that part.

During the reveal Sabrina said that the storage bench could store shoes and boots. I didn't think that would be really functional though because you'd have to take off the pillows, throw, books, plants etc. just to open the bench up and put the shoes inside. The homeowners specifically asked for a coat 'rack'. At the beginning of the show when they're sitting in the studio with Sabrina the woman said she wanted an "interesting coat rack" and the husband said he didn't know what that means and Sabrina said 'I do.'

Have to say, I saw this one coming. Her high-end appeared so generic to me that I just knew that's where they were headed.

Good point about the coatrack, metwo. When I saw the cheapie one, I thought about the difference in weight between the two. That low would be so flimsy. All they needed to do was bolt a row of pegs into the studs adjacent to the door. They had room and it would have been far more convenient, too. Place the basket for shoes below it and they're good to go.

Didn't care for SS' idea about storing the shoes in the bench either, Lola. Besides dumping everything off the bench, I was also thinking about the need for shoes to air out. Perhaps it's not as aesthetically pleasing but IMHO, the basket by the door makes more sense. Need to make these things as simple for kids as possible. Come to think of it, maybe a kid level peg row (so 2 rows total) is a good idea, too. If company was expected (or anytime), they could place an inexpensive, washable throw on top of the basket, after everything's aired out. Or, put their shoes away in their closets. Done.

Not buying that the $120 console was a good substitute. I've checked out that Tgt furniture - it's so cheaply made. In fact, the dh looked incredibly uncomfortable perched on the edge of the armless loveseat. (Wondered if they were careful so they could return the crap, haha.) He also looked like a fairly big guy. That stuff isn't sturdy.

Hated the backless bench, too - it looked incredibly uncomfortable, to me. Didn't think it would be that difficult to substitute for the walnut loveseat. In fact, when I saw the high-end, I was thinking that one of those black, powder-coated garden benches (w/arms and back) might be the right size and scale - for far less than she paid for that ___ item. I don't feel that everything must match exactly. Ok (IMHO) to substitute metal for wood or vice versa, as long as the size/shape/scale are basically correct.

That's another thing - the Tgt stuff is usually a little smaller-scale. The armless loveseat didn't look quite right - probably slightly more narrow. Wasn't sure about the chair but it was hard to tell. Just knew when I saw that striped rug (plus other items, too) that she had the Tgt knock-offs set up in advance.

Thinking about the **$, she probably would have saved **$ with the garden bench. Didn't hear but I'm assuming they kept the high-end linen panels. They're nice - I absolutely love fabrics. In this case, however - it's a porch. I actually wouldn't have minded if she'd picked up some cheaper Tgt panels and applied the savings to the furniture budget.

Or, why not purchase fabric and have panels cut and hemmed? In fact, I've seen tan dropcloths make cool panels and that might be fun for the porch. She also left another $200 on the table. With both the extra **$ and some savings, perhaps they could have sourced a 2nd hand console and a slightly larger loveseat, including arms.

Even though I've called her out, in general, it wasn't a bad room. Just felt it could have been much better. Not convinced the couple liked it, either. Did anyone notice they seemed to utter the exact same lines as the f.r. couple? SS: Do you like it? dw: I like it better! WRT the armless loveseat - dh: It looks more comfortable! Couldn't help but notice the dw's sour expression as she listened to SS' explanation prior to painting the lamp bases. Did the camera accidentally catch her true feelings about the entire experience?

Speaking of the projects, I was happy they did several, b/c it kept the Tgt scene fairly short. Chris' chandelier and coffee table were both nice. WRT the lamps, why couldn't SS take it one step further and do an easy stencil with gold paint. Why not at least stencil their last initial on the cans? That would nicely greet both them and guests as they enter the home. ETA: Perhaps they'd look more authentic with someone else's initial. Whatever - any easy stencil would do. Did those fool anybody, anyway? (haha)

I'm willing to give SS a pass on the Tgt episodes, provided she limits them. How does 3 per season sound? Anybody care to wager? (lol) Out of 13 episodes per season?. 4 might be pushing it. How many did they do last season? (Can't remember.) Well, I'll give her a pass on the overall episode but not the specific items mentioned above.

Sourcing something the other day and noticed a wooden bench (w/back & arms) on a website frequently used by SS on High-Low. It was regularly priced at $60, marked down to $45.

It appeared to be the proper size and scale for this room. IMHO, SS definitely had other/better options on this one -

Does anyone know where the original chandelier/pendant light came from? They never mentioned which store it was from, but I preferred the original one as opposed to what they made for the porch.

I checked the shopping info on this site but that episode (211, IIRC) hadn't been posted yet, even though several S2 episodes were listed. (You probably did, also.)

You might try SS FB page. (We're resisting FB so I can't help you there.) Please let us know if/when you receive a response, BTW - to help others. I had one other idea so I'll try that myself and include a few other items desired by other posters.

Incidentally, do you have a photo of that chandelier? Although I posted that Chris' version was o.k., I'm drawing a blank on which one it was. I probably preferred the high end, too, so I'd like to see the photo.

In addition, you might try posting under the Shopping section (bottom of the page) and see if anyone can help you out. A photo will probably help you generate a few more responses.
