"Debuting Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 11 p.m. ET/PT, Scoring the Deal follows Jason Abrams, real estate specialist to the pros, through the fast-paced world of real estate for the world's best professional athletes. Known as the "Jerry Maguire of real estate," Jason's intense drive ensures that his clients are taken care of on every level. He serves not only as a broker, but also as concierge and tour guide to sport's biggest stars."

Who's tuning in for the first episode????

Looks like a show for BR*VO.
To the OP, hope you don't hype it during the show.

It doesn't come on until 11:00 PM??? - Whoa, that's way too late for me.

However, I'm sure I'll be able to catch it in reruns or when they start showing marathon episodes of it like they do the other shows.

I saw the show Scoring the Deal (which is a much better title than Pro-Athlete Real Estate). Technically if Mr. Abrams is involved in negotiating the deal (or receiving a fee for services) and he's not licensed in that state, what he's doing is illegal. It's one thing to get a referral fee, and quite another to "represent" the client to a sale.

I've watched first episode and then part of the second one with the two NFL brothers. It's an okay show but not really interesting to me. It's basically just a showcase for the realtor and his assistant and a few high-end homes/condos.

I think the main problem I have with it is there is no "closure." Did the client actually get the condo/home? At least at the end of Selling New York and those shows, they will do a little blurb on the screen that says the client is still looking or they are in negotiations, something to at least let us know what happened!

I had put this show on my DVR listing but I think I will take it off as I really don't care for more realtor shows.

My take is...
He has "affiliate brokers" in the city/states where he's not licensed. In mind mind it's clear....he contacts the local broker says he's got a high-end client, does the foot work and due diligence of narrowing down the houses. Brings the client in town to see only a few places -- "consults" with the local broker to get the deal done.

Whether he's paid by a cut of the local broker's fee If that could even be done) -- or just an outright referral fee based on the amount of the deal....I never even presumed he'd be the true agent of record on the transaction.

What I want to know is how he got into this niche clientele. His family business is real estate, but how did he get into the pro athletes arena. Was he college friends with someone who made it big, and then work that contact? And work it and work it and work it.

Besides, even if he worked connections in basketball....how does that get him into doing deals for football players which is an entirely different sphere. Usually you have to go through sports agents to even get near these people for money deals.

These message boards are a social interaction network for fans of HGTV and its programming. It's not an advertising venue for "The Abrahms Team" to promote their program by asking "who will be watching?"

"Scoring the Deal" is actually a fun and entertaining show that shows a cross-country of cities - cross-country across the U.S. I know, I was one of the biggest doubters as I did not like the way the show was promoted but was pleasantly surprised. Give it a chance and decide for yourself. Cool
