Hey. I've been trying to find a modern looking planter for each side of my front door. I know the kind i want, exactly, but I don't really want to pay the 70 dollars each they cost... They are tall and skinny, diameter slightly smaller at the top, about 3 feet tall... They are ceramic, although i've seen imitation plastic ones. I was thinking of using a "waste paper basket." It has the right shape. The kind that have the dome top that you push in, causing it to flap in and out. What can i use to cover the plastic to give it a concrete look? I can't use pure concrete because i think it will flake off? Any ideas or questions please let me know. Thanks

how about using the fleckstone paint? I know it adheres to plastic. And maybe a sealer after it has dried and cured?
