The Home Show was so great. Host Rob Weller. It was before HGTV and it had a little of everything. Cooking, cleaning, crafts, home dec.,even a car fix-it guy. I was reading the comments about HGTV, and it has changed alot from when it stared. It made me feel nostalgic for this show. Sure do miss personable shows with new ideas and things to do on a MODERATE income.
I remember it, too! Rob Weller was a producer of Simply Quilts, and maybe the Carol Duvall Show. I think it's where I first met Carol. Kitty Bartholomew and Gary Collins were on, too.
I remember The Home show and watched it regularly along with Aleene's Creative Living, the Christopher Lowell show, and Home Matters with Susan Powell. They all aired on The Discovery Channel (except Aleene, who I believe was on TNN at the time). I loved them all! Craft tv sure isn't what it used to be. :-(This message has been edited. Oh gosh, I haven't thought of these shows in years! I used to watch them during the summers when I was in high school. My crafty inclinations are nothing new. ;-)
What really gets me about all our craft shows disappearing? The stupid companies that used to make a fortune off of us BECAUSE of those shows! I got introduced to Home Depot and Lowes (they were a couple of my fav craft stores lol) because of them. Paint stores. Michaels. JoAnns. My local hardware stores. So, so many of them. I cannot tell you how much money those first two made off of me and only because of those craft shows. And yet try to get one of them to sponsor a show. They think men are the only income for them. HA! Got my scroll saw, my nail guns, glue guns, soldering irons, wood, jigsaws, and so much more ONLY BECAUSE OF CRAFTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haven't bought too much lately due to the lack of all those ideas I used to get. Wish they would wise up!

I loved that show! It is so sad that almost any show on now is so intimidating to a novice. I don't understand why there are not more craft shows on TV. Just look at the innundation of blogs and sites like Pinterest that are loaded with such amazing and creative crafts! It is crazy that some TV executive has not figured out how to make $ from this and bring us some QUALITY programming!

AMEN! I love, love, LOVE my power tools and have such a collection my DH asks to borrow from ME! I've even have contractors at my house say 'Your DH has some pretty nice tools' when they see my workbench in the garage with my scroll saw, drill press, spindle sander, air compressor and assorted Dremels and then are shocked when I tell them they are mine. LOL

I loved all of those old shows. When they first came on I was so excited that there was something to watch that I truly enjoyed. Now it's come full circle -- started with This Old House and Victory Garden, then The Home Show, HGTV and it's wonderful crafting, garden, quilting and decorating shows, now back to searching for re-runs of This Old House and Victory Garden...

oh boy do I miss them all. I would love to know how they are doing today.. I still remember Kitty Bartalomew ( sorry about the spelling) doing her roof top with a bow. It was screen wire.
