I recently found where we could make suggestions for programming to one network. I won't mention the name for fear of bouncing this post. I wrote asking for crafting shows because there are none to be found any more and many are looking for programs. Here's the link. Maybe if we all write, we can make a difference:

Here is my comment "HGTV has many crafters who comment on their message boards. A common theme is that many no longer watch HGTV because they removed all the crafting shows.

I would like to suggest that you add a crafting block. Carol Duvall is a favorite.

I know Martha has short crafting segments but I would really like to see some crafting shows. There is a big, unfilled audience for that programing.

PBS that many people thinks only has "highbrow" shows (??) has many craft shows on their "CREATE" band---many cable companies carry at least one local PBS "Create" channel(band) and I love mine for painting and other craft shows everything from sewing to knitting to paper crafts!

Take a look and ask your cable, Directv about it. I love my Create--watch Victory Garden (two English/Aussie men) and Sue Schewee,Joy of Painting man, and watercolor shows too.

How do you locate 'creat tv stations'. i have dish network and can't find create.

I also watch 'Create' from PBS. Right now in my area I do enjoy painting with Susan Schewee, Bob Ross, and paper crafting at The Spotted Canary. I'm really looking forward to Frank Clarke returning to ANY PBS station in my area. Anyone who tells me to paint a sky and then tells me to enjoy a nice glass of merlot while you are waiting for it to dry before you continue is my kind of guy.

My local PBS station here still runs other craft and painting shows.

I have also turned to PBS. "Beads, Baubles & Jewels" has stepped up its content to the level of art jewelry. "Craft in America" is a series for history & inspiration of fine crafting in America.
But no show has inspired me & introduced me to new products like Carol Duvall did. She hooked me for life on polymer clay! After her show, I wanted to rush right out and BUY, BUY, BUY!
Since everything's about profit for the big cable channels, they should see the crowded aisles of our local craft stores here in the Midwest.
Why should all programming choices be aimed at the majority? Is diversity THAT unprofitable? You'd think Americans were home-owning drones addicted to decorating & re-decorating thier homes as opposed to LIVING and CREATING in those homes.
Hey, HGTV, the arts community is pleading with you, remember us. We're out here and we have money to spend ********

I just joined the message board. I agree so much, there is very, very little for us crafters on TV. However, if you own your own home and have money coming out your ears not to mention a job which my hubby and I don't have there are a million designer shows for you to sit and be bored by!

I don't turn my tv on for crafting anymore. If it weren't for the internet I wouldn't have any ideas. Thank goodness for all the wonderful blogs out there that provide me many hours of crafting ideas and beautiful gifts to give for special moments in the lives of family and friends not to mention all the free printables!

Turn your tv's off and your computers on if you want to craft it's the only way to go. If you don't have a computer go to your local library they will help you use it and you will spend hours and hours deciding what to create.

I hate that they are gone too! I used to do the same thing ~ record and watch at night. It was always good for inspiration and relaxation. I barely watch at all anymore. I don't think they have any plans on putting any back. How many times can you watch House Hunters or remodelling? It's too much of the same and not enough of what brought most of us to HGTV in the first place. I personally have taken to YouTube and have started to post some of my own videos in hopes of sharing and getting inspiration back from fellow crafters. I posted a video of candlesticks that I make. I would love to find other great ideas with the holidays coming up!

I was looking for some craft shows and Carol, saw some of the comments. One state the economy and no one could sale their crafts. Well, in the economy, we need to make make things for ourselves. I like crocheting and some of us have started getting together to make things for the needy, rest homes, chemo kids, etc. We would like shows to give us some new ideas. I have been on YouTube and helps in getting stuck on how to do a stitch or something but it's not the same as Carol's show and some of the others.

I think we crafters are a dying breed.

When I go to the craft shows and bazaars, I find most of them commerical items, or things from tag sales or yard sales.

Oh I long for shows that feature only handicrafted items!

In this ecomony I know that money is hard to come by. But I would rather my money go to a person who takes time to make her/his wares, rather than something shipped in from overseas.

This Christmas season, I am going to try my best to purchase items that only handcrafted and support American made movement of keeping our money here in the states and hopefully creating more jobs.

I agree. I can't believe the stuff that's available in juried shows that are specifically to be handmade items. The craft stores are busy, so people must still be crafting, just not selling. Too bad the shows aren't around to introduce new products and techniques. Maybe they'll make a comeback!

I totally agree! It's sad that those of us that chose to craft don't have the programming we use to watch for inspiration. I heard Martha is going off in April.

Wouldn't it be nice if the large craft stores (JoAnn's, ACMoore, Michaels, Hobby Lobby) just to name a couple would join forces and have a show where a representative of their store, do various segments on some form of craft. I would settle for 2 times a week even start off with a half hour show. That's my dream - but I know it won't happen.
