Sounds like everyone is making good progress. I hope we can all keep it up!

Well I kept busy yesterday and today. I have a half filled 30 gallon trash bag from the guest room (also now as my craft room). I also finished up a set of cards from a class I took in November and didn't really do hardly anything on them. Now they are ready for next Christmas.

Wednesday, I will be helping a friend empty out her attic. She had an addition put on her mother's place and is moving in there and selling the house she and her late husband lived in. I think it is a win/win situation for both of them. Her mother is getting close to the point of not being able to live alone and Barb's house was too big for her. Now she will have her mother there and her stepson and his family will be right next door. I know it has been hard on her since her DH passed about 18 months ago.

I've been doing a lot of organizing and re-organizing! Big Grin Things are coming along slow but sure.

Using up a lot of stash for pr@yer quilts. I did buy some fabric at Walmart today, but the flannel is for backing, a yard of clearance fabric which will be used to make dd a throw pillow, and the other fabric was for "just because"!!

My telephone was on the blitz for a few days so I couldn't post. In the mean time I finished the laundry room (as far as I'm going this time) and got back to work on the large bedroom. It will be slow going in there.

Today I did a water change in my aquarium, did my laundry, repaired a pair of jeans for DS#1 and sewed a seam in DGS coveralls.

PatV82.....Welcome to Clutter Cleaners! Smile

Hi all. It's been awhile since I've posted on the clutter cleaner's post. Not much to report right now either. I am driving down to NC this weekend and so I have left my Christmas lights up so they will turn on and off while I'm gone. Unfortunately, Shannon has not taken down anything else either lol. I NEED the Christmas tree down! My treadmill and other stuff is stacked and pushed into my craft room so I can't get to much of anything. I am just dying to set up my new sewing machine and test it out! I also have too much stuff on my coffee table from the ornies and centerpieces I made for Christmas that needs to be put away in there. Only good thing is is I had about 12 extra ornies cut out so I finished them up instead of just shoving them to the side until next holiday! Hopefully I will be back to report progress in the near future!

There is just too much stuff in this old house.

Welcome PatV82 and welcome back hjvagar. Everyone sounds like they are working away. I feel like I should be done for as long as I have been doing this. I think my clutter must be breeding while I am not looking.

Well, I spent Wednesday helping my friend. Spent yesterday recovering from that. Found some muscles I didn't know I had. Just did some light housework. My sister will be here today sometime and we will be sorting thru some craft supplies as well as finishing up some more projects we started.

went thru a large bag of "odds and ends" fabric. Had enough large pieces to make 6 pillowcases, the rest I cut into 10" and 6.5" blocks . I meet 2x's a month with a group of ladies that put together quilts for a Women/child shelter so all this will help them out.

Yesterday I got the closet shelf cleaned off. I decided to take a shoe box of old stuff to an antique dealer.
Then when DS#1 was here to work on his truck, I had him move the bookcase back over to the wall that DH had to go through to get to the plumbing.

Today I cleaned the shelves and put things back on them, and put the VCR tapes in a tote for storage until the kids decide they don't want them anymore.

Today I cleaned our bedroom, wasn't bad just needed dusting and vacuuming.Changed the sheets and actually made the bed. Our dogs appreciated that, they snuggle together to take their afternoon naps. One weighs 80 lbs., the other one is close to 60 lbs so when they snuggle together there is no room on the bed.

I'm still working on the second closet. It's pretty dusty in there so I decided to wash all the jackets that are stored in there. I did one load this afternoon. So far I've tossed a wastebasket full of junk.

MIRA'MOM....My dog weighs 5 pounds but she likes to take her share of the bed out of my side.

Good morning clutter cleaners!

I spent the last few days gathering my stamps and supplies from all the places I have stashed them and getting them all in one place in the basement. They are not organized like I want them but at least they are in one place.

Granny, did you get any good news from the antiques dealer? I have a few items that I am not sure I would let go, but I would love to know if they are worth anything. Your dog is smaller than my cat (10lbs). She can sure take up a lot of my bed.

Wiley since I retired, I make a point of making the bed as soon as I get up. That way I don't have the cat sleeping in it. She liked to burrow under the covers to sleep.

Hello Everyone! l thought l had already posted on this one but l guess l just composed a post in my mind! Do you ever do that? l get to working and think l can post this on Clutter Cleaners..... Oh, well.

mira'smom, we have been doing this a long time. Clutter is a never ending battle. lt can be conquered but it always comes back for more. And l do believe it breeds when we aren't looking! Have fun with your sister!

Mary J, l saw the prayer quilts you posted on the Stashbusting thread. Good use of fabric. And it's ok to buy some fabric just be careful of the "just because" kind!

Granny, keep up the good work. l know it seems impossible at times but look how far you've come since you've been Clutter Cleaning! And tell those kids to get their VCR tapes or out they go! Not to many VCRs left to play them on.

wiley, that's a couple of big dogs! But, l guess you already knew that, huh. LOL You are so good to donate your sewing skills. lt's amazing what can be done with odds and end fabric, isn't it?

hjvagar, it's so good to see you. Way to go finishing up those ornaments! Did you have a good trip? And, have you taken down your Christmas deco, yet?

Well, l have bad news. MY SEWING MACHINE DIED this weekend! l feel so lost without it. Afterall, l've only had it almost 35 years! l just about had my DGD's birthday quilt finished (her birthday was Nov. 23) and the dog feed quit working. DH took it all apart, put it back together but no luck. Frown

l have been busy cutting scraps into 6 1/2, 4 1/2 and 2 1/2" squares. l've cleared off one shelf, emptied one bag and am on my last bag of scraps now. l planned on using the shelf to house my new fabric! Most of the scraps l have been cutting up is old, want to get rid of it fabric.

l did get one baby quilt made last one for a Baby Shower on Sat. lt was all from scraps, too. l'm glad my machine didn't quit before l got that one done.

Routine housework is done. DH just had to take apart the vacuum cleaning and clean it out but at least it's still running! Seems like everything's falling apart at once. DH's truck is in the shop, too.

l've been cleaning out closets some, too. DD decided to put some of the clothes on Yard Sale Junkie (like Craigs List) l told her to go for it. She's already sold 3 of DGD #1's dresses. That's fine by me as long as they leave the house. Smile

Everyone keep decluttering , cleaning and posting!

wiley, yes, l'm going to get a new sewing machine. My old one was a 35 year old Kenmore so l think it has served me well.

Boy have l ever did my 15 minutes today and then some and some and some! l got my fabric shelves cleaned off and l now have empty space on the shelves! And then l cleaned off the table in the sewing room that is suppose to be used for current projects! lt was piled high about 2 ft deep. Frown Now, all that's left on there is the next few projects l want to do. Some of them are left over from last year. l really want to get them done this year.

l've also cut more squares. l thought l had finished the last of the scraps last night but then while cleaning today l came up with another pile. Oh, well, l'm not going to run out of squares for a long long time.

What have you been working on?

Steph its good to see you back.

Rainbow and Wiley I wish I knew how to sew. I would love to make quilts. Maybe in the next year, I can find a sewing class to take.

I was decluttering working on some ufos but then added to my stash as one of our bead stores is closing next Friday and I took advantage of the sale to get a few things I needed for a project but will probably go back next week for more. I did get my DD's princess bedding out of the house. I gave it to a former coworker for her granddaughter to have. Her granddaughter is 4 and crazy about Disney princesses.

l got my new sewing machine!!! l got a Brothers SQ 9050 from Walmart. Not the upgrade l had hoped for but at least it works! And it has lots of features my old Kenmore didn't have. Smile

So, today l finished up my DGD#2's birthday quilt. She was 2 in Nov. Grandma got behind!

steph, it's good to see you. Keep up that crocheting. l sure miss it. l like making quilts but l loved crocheting.

mira'smom, you gotta take advantage of those store closing sales. Especially when it supplies that you do use. l have a stack of fabric waiting for my DGD#2 to discover princesses. l'll make her a quilt then or wait and let her make her own like DGD#1 did. Nope, l better make this one. Different personalities! hehehe

Granny, way to go getting that closet done. That's a big job.

Well, l thought l had all my scraps cut into squares until l cleaned out that closet and found more. So, now it's back to cutting again. Sigh. l love having them cut up but l'm tired of cutting!

Keep up the good work and keep posting!

I've been making slow progress on the bedroom. I only got one drawer sorted yesterday. The day before I pulled a basketful of stuff out from under the dresser.

I've got to re-think what what I can get rid of in this room.........

It's been so cold this week...brrrrrrrrr. Good hand quilting weather.

I've been making some slow progress finishing up some more of the kits I bought over the last year or so. Today I have to declutter the vanity and cabinet in the master bath as DH is putting in a new vanity this weekend as my anniversary present. Since I have to empty they anyway, this seems like a good time to go thru and toss things that have expired or that we aren't going to use. The old one is builder grade oak and the sink has a big chip out of it. The new one he bought has a dark finish to the wood and there is a pull out drawer at the bottom.

You ladies are all making great progress. I worked yesterday on cleaning out the shed so I can get rid of it and get a new one. I found someone who actually wants the shed once it is empty. The only thing left in it is an old, very heavy work bench that I want to save. I will have to wait for my son to come over Saturday to help me move it. Once the shed is gone I will call one of those 800 junk places to pick up what ever is left of the shed and the scrap wood I wasn't able to get rid of.

This afternoon was spent cleaning out the kitchen. I have a bag of stuff I put up on freecycle and someone has already asked for it. I organized everything under the sink. I can't believe how many duplicates I have. New goal - always make lists and check it before I go grocery shopping so I don't buy more of what I already have!

Now onto the living room.

The living room is now done. Obviously I am procrastinating about getting into the craft room. I have several items on freecycle - if they don't go I will take them to a thrift store next weekend. I also have three bags of stuff for my son - cd's, dvd's, books, etc. He is 25 so I think it is time for him to get his stuff out of here. I need to go through the hall closet before he gets here Saturday. I know there are a couple of his blankets in there.

I am by no means a minimalist so my kitchen and living room may still look cluttered to someone else but to me they look much better and everything that is left are things I either use or want. One of my older sisters is doing a 55 day walk in Europe this summer and moving to Egypt for two years a week after she gets back. She is starting to purge like crazy. Her goal is to get rid of everything she won't be taking with her except a few boxes which she will store in my attic. I can't imagine getting rid of that much stuff - 60 years worth of stuff! I think she may keep more than she thinks she will - all the memory items from three kids - it will be interesting to see what she gets it down to.

Granny, l've been rethinking a lot lately, too. And out it goes! l'm tired of recleaning stuff l don't use. You've been doing a good job. Keep it up!

mira'smom, Happy Anniversary! Are you liking your new vanity? Nothing like a remodel to make you declutter is there.

headielamar, Wow! l'm glad someone wants your old shed. That'll make it easier for you. Way to go freecycle. l love it when you can get rid of stuff and help someone else out at the same time. Even under the kitchen sink. You have been busy. l was just thinking this evening that l need to make up my own list and print it off. l used to do that and it really helped with the duplicates and thinking l had something only to find out l didn't when l needed it. Living room done. Way to go!!! You will get to the craft room. l did. Today! Your sister's life sounds like it is going to be very interesting. Let us know how many boxes she can get down to. Maybe that will inspire us!

Today l have worked all day long in my craft room.
Sewing counter cleaned off? Yep!
Floor cleaned? Yep!
Ironing board cleaned off? Yep!
Top of dresser cleaned off? Yep!
Desk cleaned off? Yep!
All of my fabric scraps cut up into squares? Yep!

lt's looking more like my room now!

Everyone keep working, decluttering and posting!

Rainbow, it isn't installed yet. Dh decided to do the floor while he was at it, so we picked out one on Saturday evening and he picked it up on Sunday. He decided he didn't have enough time to do the floor and the vanity on Sunday, so he is planning to start first thing on this Saturday morning.

I did manage some decluttering otherwise this week and finally put away the last of the stuff from my office. I have some award plaques that I don't know what to do with - I just put them on the shelf in the guest room closet. I also cleaned out 2 of my kitchen cabinets and was able to put some of the small appliances that had been on the counters in one of them.

I would be unstopable if I could get started. That is a great saying Rainbow. It sounds like me. I cleaned out a book case of magazines, and craft books, two bags for the church thrift store. It took me two days to get that done.
Now the never ending clean up of the craft room, to make that room a guest bedroom. I wonder how long that would take me? (smile).

Last night I de-cluttered my aquarium. I must have picked out a hundred 'dang pond snails', which I re-homed this morning.

The bedroom is finally coming together. A couple more days and I'll be able to move on to another untouched area.

Does anyone remember the Watkin's Man? I have a small box full of Watkin's home remedies that were displayed in a local drug store during a summer festival, but the store closed. Now I don't know what to do with this old stuff.

I've just spent the last 15 minutes or so reading all the decluttering posts. I'm right proud of you ladies. I want so to do this too. Health is keeping me down, but I have good intentions. lol I did get the bedroom in some sort of order Sat and Sun. It sure looks better. But I have soooooo much 'stuff' for crafts I have to down grade. Of course it's winter here and can't have a yard sale yet. Not many nursing homes that want the extra stuff.

I finally stitched a couple of card toppers and want to do a little bit of quilling in the next day or so. Just sorting things out makes a difference. I do try to do 15 a day, but some days it just doesn't work. Of course, if I do the dishes, I count that. lol

So keep up the good work and I'll keepm on trying too. Love your posts.

Jean

mira'smom, a new floor, too? l guess that's worth wanting for. Putting away the last of old stuff seems to be the theme of the week. l put away the last of the Branson Retreat stuff and l know a couple of others that went did that, too, this week. Good job decluttering your counter space!

5Bells, sounds like you found a way to get started though. Way to go for clearing out the book case and getting donations ready to go!

Granny Quilts, That aquarium seems like a lot of work to me. Way to go for keeping it clean. See, keep at that bedroom. You can get it done. l don't remember Watkin's home remedies. Have you looked them up online? You might have a fortune and not realize it or find out it's worthless and you can get rid of it!

granny3641, good to see you here. Hey, l count dishes sometimes, too! Just keep at it a little at a time. Even 5 minutes at a time can add up and make a difference. Keep coming back here and posting what you have done. Seeing it in print can be an encouragement for yourself and others, too.

Well, l did my 15 +++++ in my craft room tonight. l had bought a 3 drawer cart for my grands to use for their crafting items but all they did was cram it full and never touched it again. So, Grandma repo-ed it tonight!!! l cleaned it out, tossed over half of it, put away the rest in it's original places (bookcase for coloring books/notebooks and dresser drawers for pencils, colors and scissors) and am now using the drawers to hold all the 6 1/2", 4 1/2" and 2 1/2" squares l've cut up this year!

Here's the fruit of my labor. (squares)

Keep up the good work!

granny3641........Poor health has slowed me down, too. On my good days I de-clutter, on bad days, I quilt.

Haven't done too well at decluttering this week. I have kept up with the laundry and dishes but that is about it. Yesterday I did use a little of my beading stash to make a bracelet. Today will be a total loss as I have to grocery shop and meet my old Director for lunch. I think she is desparate to get me to come back to work.

My son came over and took 99% of his stuff - the other 1% went in the recycling. I also took four boxes to Goodwill and two old computers for the e-cycle program. I will start on the converted garage this weekend - it has become a storage room and I want it to be my craft room and a study/computer room for my parents when they visit. I hope I can get my stash to look as good as yours Rainbow.

Well, quilting didn't work very well. I only managed to work about 20 minutes and had to quit. Frown

I started the cellar way yesterday. I found places for most of the items and moved a few durable things the the cellar. Today we went to town and dropped off some donations at GW. I had to look around while we were there and of all things, I found flower bulbs. Daffodils, Dutch Irises and Grape Hyacinths. I limited my self to one package of hyacinths.

Why do I always make more work for myself? lol

Over the weekend I rehomed the guppies from my aquarium and gave away a big porch rug that I had no use for. I like freecycling.

I got more debris out of the cellar way a sprayed the walls with a spider repellant. Now to wait and see if it works.

Whats everyone else been up to?

I actually started working on my craft room. I have decided to get rid of supplies for crafts I no longer do and just concentrate on the crafts I do and enjoy. I gave away a bag of traditional crazy quilt fabric scraps since I only use cotton when I crazy quilt. I also gave away a box of misc craft supplies that have been collecting dust for over a year. Tomorrow a guy from a non profit group is coming to pick up craft paints. I have more than 30 bottles just sitting on a shelf.

The cellar way is finished!!!! I had to solicit DH's help

So onward and downward........ The long shelf along the cellar steps is next on my list.

I have been a bad clutter cleaner. I got together with a group to make decorated cigar boxes and I have added a bunch of stuff to my stash to be ready to do more. Now I have to get the boxes.

I have done some organizing of my beading supplies at least.

Good to see you making progress, Granny Quilts and Headielamar! Maybe it will rub off on me this week.

mira'smom...... Organizing craft supplies counts Smile
I hate when I get into one of those slumps. Hang in
there, it will pass.

I did double time today. I cleaned off the shelf, toss some of the stuff that I don't know why we saved and organized what was left. Then I swept the steps and went through the paint containers that DH has stacked along the edge. They will get a better home later.

This cold weather is getting to me. :-(

Today I cleaned the kitchen. Yesterday I worked in the laundry room and the day before I started sorting through all the junk in the cellar.

Wow! Where has this month gone? Oh, l know, it slipped by while l was sick as a dog!!! First good old allergies, then coughing my head off and finally, l ended up with the nastiest stomach bug l have ever had. l threw up for 3 days!!! Yuckkkkky!!!! Thankfully, l'm all better now.

But, because of all that l haven't sewn any nor l have decluttered, and l've done very little cleaning. l did straighten up the pantry one afternoon as l was starting to feel better. (Actually, l was looking for something that looked good to eat! LOL) Fortunately, my DD and DH kept the housework done for the most part and the other part is still waiting for it's turn.

l really need some motivation to get back to moving again. l'm happy to see everyone has been working along without me.

Granny Quilts, way to go checking out your clutter and tossing it when you found out it was just that, clutter. l hope Uncle Arthur hasn't stayed for any extended visit. You've been getting a lot done. First the bedroom now the celler and taking off donations. Way to go!!! You are doing great!!!

wiley, all that charity sewing you do keeps you from collecting clutter which is even better than decluttering! And you are helping someone else at the same time. Way to go!!!

mira'smom, l hope you told that director you don't want to return to work! l love hearing that you are using your stash. That means it won't become unused clutter. Keep it up! Don't be too hard on yourself as long as the boxes don't end up unused on a shelf you're ok.

headielamar, yeah for your son getting his stuff! That's an accomplishment right there!!! Way to go getting started on your craft room. Shelves are my best friends. Use them to your advantage. l have given a lot of "not going to use them supplies" and it's a freeing feeling. Once they are gone you don't have to feel guilty for not using them. Clears up the mental clutter. Will you show us pics when you get things set up? l'd love to see what you did with the space.

Well, l hope everyone is staying warm. Keep on cleaning and decluttering and post, post, post!

======================
l would be unstopable IF l could get started!!!

Rainbow, sorry to hear you have been ill.

I have been doing better on decluttering this week. I took apart our aquarium and cleaned it and have it ready for DH to store until the fall. All our fish had died and I decided not to get anymore until after we get back from vacation. This has freed up my buffet to hold some of my works in progress until that time.

I started a second cigar box and have friends coming to work on some too, so I don't think they will all end up on a shelf. I am using the papers I have on hand on them so that is reducing my paper stash.

It sounds like the rest of you are making good headway.

Rainbow - sorry to hear you have not been feeling well.

I am hoping for a big weekend of working on my craft room. Now that I have started it I can't wait to get it finished. I will post pictures when I get more done.

I've got one little corner in the cellar cleaned, and a long, long way to go. DH wants to build his own little hobby room in that corner. I've brought up 3 grocery bags of bottles, that I collected, washed them and they are ready to go out the door the next time we go to town. ( Why in the world a person collects bottles is beyond me! ! )

A few months ago I accepted a donation of a quilting frame to use for a donation quilting group I belong to. Everyone was very excited cuz most of the time we tie our quilts. Well, as time has passed no one wants to pitch in and try to use it. But it fills up a room that I really can't use. Have located a church group that can and will make use of it. Hopefully we can take it apart so it can be moved to it's new location. Amazing how many folks have become unavailble to help move it. Maybe by this weekend!!

Granny sorry to hear your last snail died.

I haven't done much decluttering but I did do a lot of cleaning. I am also trying to find patterns to use up my bead stash, so that will become more managable. Tomorrow, I will be using some of my cigar boxes as I am teaching my sister and a friend how to decorate them. I hope to get back to the decluttering after the weekend.
