Would like to make a little doll house for my grandsons "Woodsy Beaver" family. ( its just lil characters approx, 3"tall, Dad, Mom and bro and sis.) I made one years ago for a little girlfriend. It was made of flowered material, soft sided, opened in the front, two floors, little beds and tables, all handmade. I need this one to be rustic and woodsy, basically same design. Maybe I could make something with balsam wood and attached straw. Any and all ideas are appreciated.

If you can get a hold of a Lincoln log set, it would be ideal both in design and scale. Optionally, gather twigs and hot glue them in rows to practical board, balsa wood or foam core in the shape of a rustic cottage. Dried faux leaves and sheet moss would add to the charm.
Btw, birch wood bark can be found in sheets for the sides of another type of woodsy dwelling.
Hope I've inspired you. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Froo Froo,

Why not just try to find material that looks woodsy and make it look like logs? Stuff it and sew it into log type things and then sew them together or even just sew across all the 'walls' to look like logs. That way it can be kept inside without a big mess. You could make the tables, chairs, etc out of twigs and small branches.

My friend recently made a footstool for her rustic living room out of a plastic rainbarrel (cut to height) for the base. She covered it with "wood print" fabric to look like a tree. Made a "lid" and covered it with batting and fabric. Storage inside too. Turned out great. I believe she got the fabric at JoAnns. Good luck with your project.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Could you use a real log? Maybe cut a big one in half and then cut out most if the inside so the bark and some of the wood is left for the walls? Then make a roof with cedar shakes?
