A blast from the past. These panty hose eggs were made from the 1970's through 1991 (I believe). When I say Mom saved everything....I mean everything. We're cleaning out her craft room and have discovered approximately 50 of these eggs (39 are silver bottoms with clear tops). Does anyone recall a use for them before I offer on Freeecycle (or trash). A friend works with a church seniors group and provides small holiday treats to a local nursing home year round but we need ideas.

Since I suspect most of these empty eggs were mine, I wonder which color contained regular and which control tops.....my history in a large plastic bag.

    We'd appreciate any ideas.

I think I may have a couple of those eggs somewhere.

This isn't anything I think you would want to do as a project for multiple recipients, but what I wanted to do with them is to glue the two halves together, and using my Dremel, cut out an oval opening in the side, and an intricate design around the oval. Then, I thought it would be nice to spray paint the egg, and adorn the outside with beads, glitter and trims, and create a little scene on the inside. I've seen this done on TV with goose/ostrich eggs, and the result was beautiful.

Thanks for your thoughts, however, I forgot to mention that Mom had all (and I mean all) the creative talent in the family. I was expecting there would be much information...just hoping. It's so unlike Mom to not have kept her ideas/patterns with the supplies.

I recall that I use to glue the two halves together after putting some beans in them. I had a pattern for some zoo animals around them for a baby toy rattle. They were really cute. My favorite was the lion. I made a mane by wrapping yarn around a piece of cardboard forming a loop before sc.

I just did a google search. Went to google & typed in... crafts with eggs. Lots of ideas there & quite simple too. You could certainly adapt the leggs eggs to these crafts. Good luck, have fun. Smile

If you give up, any church or school would love to have them for their egg hunts in the spring!
They make great prize eggs because you can fit MORE candy in them.

Thanks for your recommendation but I was contacted by a lady who could use them. I was most pleased to send them to her....including the book for crafting with them Mom had stashed in a box of craft magazines. Luckily for me, Mom usually kept the instructions and a sample with the craft supplies.
