I have a small table lamp that I put on my table like that. Helps eliminate the shadows.

I use nothing but OTT Lights. They reduce eye strain and imitate natural light. I have a flip-up table top lamp, a floor lamp, and then in the one fixture that hangs above my table I put in an OTT bulb. They're expensive but worth every penny and the bulbs last a very long time. If you have 40%-50% coupons for any craft stores (Joanne's, Michael's,etc) you can use those and save yourself a good amount of money. This is what I have;

I have the stand alone lamp and the small one for a table and I love them. The light from them is the best. Love using them when I'm beading and painting as I can see true colors instead of muted ones.

Another vote for OTT lights here, they are well worth the money. After using one myself, I bought them for my DDs for Christmas, they both do alot of sewing and crafts.

My second choice for quickies is the kitchen flourescent overhead.
