I have an issue with the content of the House Hunters show programming, in that there aren't any or many families/people of color, (e.a., Black, Hispanic or even Asian). I would like to see more diversity of people who are looking for property in the states and Internationally. Thank you

While I can understand your concern, if I am not mistaken, people have to apply to get on the program who are moving overseas or within the States. I have seen people of color, black, asian, hispanic on episodes both in the states and overseas. The point is who is to say its the shows fault that there are less on the show, it can be because either no one is interested in doing the show or those of color have not submitted a video or whatever means there are to get on House Hunters.

I get tired of the whining on House Hunters. It's a granite counter top but not the right color of granite. The faucets are the wrong color. The appliances are not stainless steel, the paint on the wall is the wrong color... I wanted wood floors and this has carpet... I understand people are looking for a home, but very few are kind, gracious or horrors ...grateful. The whining and complaining is more than I want to watch or listen to. So, HGTV, once a favorite place to watch, I spend less and less time watching because I can no longer stand the whining.

"I spend less and less time watching because I can no longer stand the whining." That's kind of how I feel about this message board.

In response to the last post, I'm truly curious...since you appear to frequent this message board with a range of comments and seem to really like HGTV's current programming...what is it you like about the current line-up? And do you like the direction this network is taking?
|
What gave you that idea?
|
@ Chuck Steak - I was only assuming since you seem to support the positive stats for the network when people complain about the programming and seem to comment on quite a few shows... so you must be watching them. I'm just curious since I'm so disappointed with the direction of the network. Obviously, I'm in the minority...

I actually watch very little HGTV these days because I am not really interested in what's on. I do like the international shows (not talking Canada) because I like to see different places and don't travel as much as I'd like to. I don't care for the shows with the "surprises" that only an incompetent contractor or designer wouldn't investigate before embarking on a project; things like bearing walls and utility chases. Other things are annoying, like the guy who makes apartments in basements - they look good and the rental income can help pay the mortgage but he never talks about paying off the home improvement loan for those renovations which would probably offset the income. What I object most to though are the posts that demand HGTV change their programming to satisfy the whims of a disgruntled viewer. HGTV owes us nothing, but by law owes the shareholders of their parent company the best possible return on their investment. With their viewership and revenues at all time highs that is exactly what they are doing.
|
Yeah Chuck, I often wonder about that ^ too.

"Income Property" is one of my FAVORITE (love, love, love!) HGTV programs and I DO recall hearing him address that once. He said that once the apartment is rented, the dollars coming in would FIRST go towards paying off the loan, then once paid off, would be applied to the mortgage. He probably should reiterate this more often however, but I guess it's not "appealing" to mention that.

I am one who is just tired of so many house hunters shows. Seems like that show is ALWAYS on. Why aren't there new shows being developed? What about a show where the hgtv experts work with habitat for humanity and do two houses together showing how a house can be built inexpensively.
