inspiredbymarieAll American Handyman Ideas
I love this show! But as someone who loves to work with wood, it bothers me to see things built in new wood and then destroyed. How about some challenges using recycled wood, like old fencing, or pieces from a torn down building. Also when they design things like the playground equipment, after the grading let them fix the problems, then donate to someone who could use it.

HGTV Girl from NJI just watch the show tonight and I had to tell you I think it is just crazy to have the contests build a island in 4 hours! These people are handymen/handywomen NOT pros giving them 4 hours is ridiculous! They should have had atleast 8 hours so Mike & Scott could have really judged their work! Please consider more appropriate time fames for this show! A lot of other people feel the same way! Thanks!

TommyreyI totally agree. Enough with the short deadlines and 30 minutes of watching panicked contestants. Who wants to watch that? Last night's barbeque challenge was a good example. I learned nothing about building a barbeque because they had to work so fast 2 teams didn't get half way done and the third made a lot of mistakes. Give them 8 hours to do the job right and forget the dramatics. I would have liked to have seen the stone and tile barbeques but they neither had time to get close to finishing. Design Star has the same issue. I would rather see quality work being judged than sloppy rushed work. Who does that in real life?

inspiredbymarieI agree. I wanted to see how they worked with the stone one, since we are getting ready to put one in. I know it is a game show, but it would be nice to see them finish. They could have donated the finished products to some area organizations that would have been grateful for them. They could judge on the finished product and also on the time it takes to complete. Or at least give a reasonable time limit.

TommyreyLast night's finale of All American Handyman was another hot mess. It was nice they gave them 2 four hour periods and a helper for the second day but the sweat was still flying and both finished products were a bit of a mess. I still would rather they give them several days to do a big project and then we'd get to see a completely finished product and get a better idea of what these people can do. Glad the season is over but way to go Sonnie.

paintforalivingI like it but why is there a time limit? There isn't one in real life. I would like to see what they can do when given enough time to do a good job. Also what became of the winners? They were supposed to get their own show but I have yet to see any of them.
