Curb Appeal the Block - Really Helping? Sign In/Join

I have enjoyed watching Curb Appeal the Block for many seasons, so I was happy to hear John and Kimberly were coming to our block! I am now very disappointed with the reality of what goes on. The main home to be improved does look better, although it is not the best John has done. However, I am very unhappy about the fact the two additional homes chosen were easy fixes. Especially the second one, where there are 4 able-bodied adults living there who take care of their yard already. Why not choose the senior citizen next door, with the picket fence fallen over, and front yard one big hedge? Or the young woman who lives alone, spends evenings and weekends taking care of her parents and cannot care for her new home's front yard? Now that would have made for good caring television. Instead, two homes that were fine have been spruced up even more and those in need are still in need. An opportunity missed to bring some real change to the neighborhood. That's fine, we will find a way to help them, but what a disappointment. Thank you for hearing me out. I hope you take these words to heart and choose the homes with more real impact next time.

MKJ, just curious which CATB episode you're referring to. If you know, how did they determine the 2 smaller makeover homes? Friends of the main makeover family/couple?

I'm sure many people here on the boards would love to hear more of the backstory of that episode, if you have time to post back and to the extent you know any of the details.

Incidentally, we don't believe anyone from HGTV monitors this thread. Did you or anyone else mention the other possibilities to any of the producers/director/crew at that time?

I'm in agreement with MKJ and live on the street where the episode is being shot. I don't have the back story other than I've heard that the owners of the main home knows someone on the show, but who knows if that's true.

My biggest beef is the fact that the other two home chosen for the smaller $1,000 projects certainly weren't the homes in aesthetic need on our block (nor was the main home IMHO). A grand can go a long way and I think the producers could have chosen more responsibly and given a little help to needier families. Does make you wonder how they were chosen.

So now we have 3 homes that started out okay and now have fresh look...and the houses with the overgrown neglected yards remain. Way to go HGTV!

So the episode is currently being shot/completed? Thought they'd definitely finished production for their latest season.

And the main plot/storyline is ??? Just trying to identify the episode - if any of the neighbors can share the details, I'm sure everyone would love to hear about it.

For example, how much does John actually show up on set/at the site? Doesn't seem like the other 2 castmembers do much -

Too bad they possibly made the neighborhood a little spotty, at best. That's a drag.

Thanks.
