I love your network and all the helpful things I've learned watching the various shows.
I'm a certified landscape designer. The shows featuring landscaping are great and educate a lot of new gardeners well. But I am concerned that when demonstrating planting (especially trees) that watering during & after planting are never emphasized. This is the single most important thing to insure that a new plant thrives. I would like to see the following steps shown and/or mentioned:
watering the new plant before planting;
loosening its roots after removal from container;
adding water to the new planting hole and making sure it drains through in 15 minutes;
placing the plant in the hole and backfilling the hole halfway w a mix of new/existing soil;
add the rest of the soil mix to ground level.
Thanks and I hope this helps
