I watch all the shows where the show goes to someones home and does a kitchen makeover, a den makeover, bathroom crash or fixing the landscape, but what I have noticed that all the shows they want people who live in or around LA, or somewhere in California or on the East Coast in New York, Pittsburgh or something like that but they never venture out into America.... Come to Virginia or North Carolina, Georgia (besides Atlanta), Iowa or Ohio... None of the shows you can apply for are anywhere but California or New York. And maybe a married couple is over 50 and don't have children, don't you think they would need some help with a bad renovation or rooms that just don't do for them what they need. HGTV has turned its back on their true fans, ones who don't earn over 100,000 dollars per month or year, and don't live in the desirable neighborhoods. It is a shame you have taken off the shows that really give us ideas that we can afford, but now its all about having a Kardashian or doing rooms in houses three times bigger than normal. I say equal opportunity for every type of home owner.
don't ever watch it anymore. When the gardening and craft shows were on I watched it all day. Nothing on it for me now. I do so love the boards here, that's all.

I only signed on to see what they do with all the materials they remove from the homes, with the price of kitchen cabinets, I would hate to see them destroyed instead of donated to families who can use them. If I lived closer, I would come and help you, would be nice to have these small town communities pull together, guess that doesnt happen any more either. good luck to you
I, too, would like to see the shows out in the rest of the country. And for those 50+ - I know that would be great. So many of the shows I don't watch - I am not rich (&can't even imagine rich folks watching HGTV anyway) & don't have a 5K sq ft house. Let's get real

I AGREE!! We keep noticing that most everyone is young; they are shopping for their first home or they have little kids that want this luxurious waterpark in their backyard. We've seen people DIG UP from their backyard things that I would LOVE TO PUT IN. It gets depressing when you see a young couple with a budget of $529,000 for their home. We've been in our house 17 years and we have a 2nd and a 3rd mortgage with a house appraisal maybe $50,000 over what we owe. We have a nice home but we had to cash in a life insurance policy to put a new roof on!! We have hung our own kitchen cabinets, laid down wood floors, painted, wallpapered, tiled more things than I can count ON OUR OWN. We are teachers, ages 53 and 56. We work hard, have raised 2 wonderful children. I would just like grass in my yard that GROWS, maybe a fire pit and I would like our walls painted without my husband standing on an extension ladder because it's a 2 story wall. We live in Florida with a pool with a LEAK--that's another $2500. It never ends. Sorry to sound whiny, but older people have needs and desires, too. And we worked HARD to get where we are. Maybe some of the help could be spread around to US, not just the young ones with more energy and money than we ever thought about. WOW--I really DO sound whiny.....oh well. maybe HTGV could HELP
So true... just get the heck out of the major 3 or 4 cities and come help the rest of us... I want to sell my house. I would be a great candidate for the show Designed to Sell (that is rarely on anymore). I want to know how to redesign my house for a reasonable amount. not watch some celebrity that has unlimited money and resources do there house.
I agree.I enjoy watching 'normal' people more than rich people shopping for million dollar homes. I find the latter to be show offs and will not tune in.
