Sarah's House season 4 |

While I am excited that season 4 of Sarah's House is finally running on HGTV, I am confused as to why the series was cut from its original 13 HGTV-Canada episodes down to just 10 on this network. Also, why did HGTV make the inexplicable decision to start the series with episode 2? Episode 1, the episode wherein Sarah Richardson selected the location and layout of the house she is designing this year is essential to framing and explaining the entire concept of this season - customizing a builder's home in a suburban development. Starting with episode 2 - the Living Room - omits an integral element of the entire season. Bad job HGTV. I'm finding it more and more difficult to watch the unwatchable "talent" that now populates a significant portion of HGTV airtime - Meg, Donna, Dina, Meg, anyone named Novogratz, did I mention Meg? This sloppy and totally unnecessary butchering of a very good show with a very good designer might just be the tipping point that turns me off HGTV completely.

For me, one of the best. While total bathroom or kitchen renos in 48 hrs are rare (do YOU have a friend who shows up with a professional crew of crafstpeople?), Sarah's House goes the distance of a realistic time frame - and realistic hurdles and disappointments along the way.
Loved this marathon, but must ask, why four episodes back to back? And why so little advertising?
And this week it was 6 episodes back to back. And of course - as stated above, they only showed a total of 10 of the 13 episodes. Figured out today from references and pictures during the airing of the show that BESIDES the first episode where she chose the house, we missed the dining room, and the girl's bedroom episodes. Wonder what made them decide to leave those three out? (Not that they'll ever tell us) But that's just my 2 cents! ~Gail~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To quote a very wise person.... "There is a cover for every pot & a homebuyer for every home!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Goodness, how about a little whine with your cheese, folks. First, y'all complain that you don't see enough Sarah or any good designers like her on HGTV. Then when 9 new episodes appear, y'all grouse because 1) they're on back-to-back (OMG) 2) some episodes, allegedly, are missing (OMG) 3) there was not enough promotion to announce the series (and yet, y'all managed to watch it) 4) you didn't like the time-slot (R U kidding?)
As I told my husband, I suspect that HGTV knows that true Sarah loves will find her shows no matter where they put them, even without promotion. They have to spend time promoting new or "iffy" shows in hopes of finding viewers. It's a shame. Again, with a DVR, I don't care when they are on - I'll catch them. I DO mind that I don't get to see a few of the episodes that HGTV chose not to air. What's the purpose for not airing them? Maybe they still will. But personally, I think that's reasonable to complain about. But that's just my 2 cents! ~Gail~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To quote a very wise person.... "There is a cover for every pot & a homebuyer for every home!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's a concept: how about some critiques, comments and thoughts about the episodes themselves.
My favorite was the Rec Room. I could definitely live with that room...and my basement needs a makeover! Loved the colors! But that's just my 2 cents! ~Gail~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To quote a very wise person.... O.K. here is some comment on the content. 1) I have a sense that all is not super duper peachy keen between Sarah and Tommy even though they supposedly are BFF's You would not be surprised if he did not somewhat resent Sarah. 2) Although Sarah is definitely a talented designer, like all designers, after awhile you know exactly where she is going. A sink in an otherwise used furniture piece. Check. Kitchen cabinets used as l.r. cabinets. Check. Used lighting fixtures. Check. Newly coated antique tubs. Check. She has a look and now we know how she goes about achieving that look. No surprises.

No I'm not kidding. 3 missing shows out of 12 is 25% of the shows. Saturday afternoons is a terrible time to watch TV. That is the time you are supposed to be out doing the things you saw on TV. And back to back is crazy. We wait a year for a new series of shows and they are gone in 2 days? Yes I did DVR them and yes I got to see them all and yes I was then able to fast forward through all the commercials that I would have had to watch if I watched the show in real time. So I did have the last laugh but now I have to wait another whole year for another Sarah and Tommy fix. Meanwhile House Hunters goes to Peoria is probably on in any minute.
Here's what I see and hear here: ME,ME,ME, ME. ME. It's not all about you.
Ouch!! That works two ways you know. Apparently you think it's all about YOU YOU YOU and that your opinion and thoughts are the only way to go. I also think it's stupid for HGTV to air an excellent show like Sarah's House in the middle of the afternoon, not air a complete season, and have all the episodes shoved into two Saturday afternoons. Is it better than not seeing Sarah, you bet. But for those of us who would love to sit down one evening and have a good chance of watching something other than House Hunters, it's hard to understand HGTV's logic for their silly programming schedule. Can anyone think of any other network that airs brand new episodes of a popular show back to back over a two day period?? Maybe the other networks have figured out that it's not in the best interest of their viewers. And that's MY MY MY opinion.
Of course it is about ME. Or more correctly US, the fans of Sarah's House. Isn't TV for the viewers????
You are not speaking for anyone but yourself. You don't like Saturdays, big whoop. A lot of viewers love watching shows on Saturdays. You don't like watching shows back to back, boo hoo hoo. Lots of viewers don't mind that at all. You moan because you have to wait another year for a new season of Sarah, as if she has nothing else to do but satisfy YOUR needs. Puhleeze.
Sorry but it's about me and a lot of others who like Sarah. HGTV has endless HH and HHI on every night of the week. Please don't tell me that thousands of viewers want to see these shows constantly, this board is filled with complaints about these shows and how often they are shown. I would like to see Sarah on a different evening and yes I would have liked to see the shows as a series, that includes all the episodes.

The latest ratings (Tues. 9/18) for the 10 pm EST House Hunters were approx. 1.51 million adult viewers 18-49. House Hunters International was viewed by approx. 1.3 million adults 18-49. HH is consistently rated in the top 100 of ALL CABLE programs on prime time weeknights in the adult 18-49 demo. No, it doesn't have the reach of Sons of Anarchy (most cable shows don't) but House Hunters beat out Flipping Out on Bravo, probably its nearest competitor, in terms of subject matter. In case you are wondering: I am not now, nor ever have been an employee of, or affiliated with, HGTV/Scripps.
Never heard of "Flipping Out" so it's not too surprising that House Hunters could beat that show. Why so bitter Aychihuahua? Can't others voice their opinions or is it only you that can? People come to these message boards to voice their opinions -- why not let them without belittling them??
Flipping Out with Jeff has no relationship to Sarah. It's a whole different concept. It's been reported that HGTV has ordered many more HH and HHI episodes, that's why they are on constantly. No other network has the same show on every night, every week. Many people do not like them and say so on the boards. If you want to watch them, then you have lots to watch. Me, I'd rather watch paint dry than see another HH episode.
Feel free to watch paint dry, if you wish. BTW, I was referring to Flipping Out versus House Hunters, not Sarah's House. Even though, come to think of it, Flipping Out has to do with remodeling homes, as does Sarah's House.
Who is stopping anyone from expressing an opinion? You just called me bitter. Fine: you are entitled to that. The real problem here is that everyone, and I mean everyone, is of the same mindset: they hate, hate, hate HH. Fine. You are all entitled to that. But, when someone like myself refuses to jump on the hate HH bandwagon, then people here get their knickers in a twist. And, when someone tries to point out facts,no one wants to hear it. Fine. We all entitled to our opinions, and that includes those who don't agree with the hate HH mindset. PS, you might want to stray from the HGTV reservation sometime and watch Flipping Out on Bravo. It's a hoot.
This thread is supposed to be about Sarah's House, right? Then why no comments on the merits of the show, the various designs, the house, the design process? Why is it all we see are whining complaints about when the show airs or doesn't air. I'd love to hear what y'all think about that.
I'd love Sarah in any show because there is a lot to learn from her plus it's fun watching her and Tommy together. But if I had to choose which of all her show formats I liked the best, I'd say it was Design Inc. Plus as much as I like Tommy, we got to see Sarah work with some of her other design assistants. But Aychihuahua, there are many of us who don't necessarily hate HH or HHI. It's we hate to see it on EVERY night. I don't know how many years it's been on HGTV but if they aired Sarah as much and as often, I'd probably get sick of her too and complain that she was the only thing on when I turned on HGTV. The boards are a good place to vent our frustrations and to find out if there are others who feel the same way.
