I have a very fearful mom who can't or won't make a decision to remodel her kitchen. I'm a realtor and so is my sister, my brother runs a painting company. We are unable to convince her to part with any money to help make the house more sellable. This has been goin on over 5 years. Any chance one of your surprise makeover teams can help us here in Vancouver, WA? She needs to downsize soon.
HGTV doesn't monitor these boards to look for projects. Highly doubtful they'd come to your rescue unless there was a production company doing shows for them in your area.
If you are actually a real estate agent I'd question your logic. Your mom doesn't want to go through the mess of remodeling just to sell the house. Who can blame her? Rarely do you get 100% of the value out of the renovation so why spend the money in hopes of recovering 75% of the money you put into it? Sell the house as is and let the new owner do the work to update the kitchen to their liking. Yes there are some folks who will walk away from the house because the kitchen is outdated. If the house is in a good location and is in otherwise good shape I'd bet there is someone out there that will see the diamond in the rough and take on the renovation.
Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.
I am not an employee of HGTV, nor is anyone else that posts here.
My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
