I used to really live Love It or List It but after watching it for quite awhile it became the same thing every time. Hillary ALWAYS runs into major problems and only does a portion of what she set out to do. I realize that problems come up when remodeling - but a major problem every time??? And even when problem does come up she never tries to reconfigure things in another area or find a less expensive solution to something in one of the areas but just cuts something the homeowners wanted done. Maybe if she tried to come up with alternative solutions in the "decorating", like re-using some furniture they already have or decorating with something less expensive, they would not have to cut out so much. And what about it they can't put new walls & floors in a basement or attic AND decorate it - just put in the walls & floors. It would be better to do the major work and leave more of the decorating to them. If it my space, I'd rather have the "space" than the "decoration". Also, why is Hillary so critical when they are upset that something on their "MUST HAVES" is not going to be done. Of course they are going to be upset, and her comment is just "they'll have to get over it". How about some sympathy or at least an apoligetic attitude. And what about asking the homeowners what project they would prefer cut instead of Hillary choosing what she wants to complete? Maybe they would prefer the basement done than new appliances? The Property Brothers always seem to be able to recoup when they find problems - but NEVER Hillary.
And David - does he even listen to the buyers when he starts showing them homes. And he can only find ONE home they like and always the last one? It would be nice if once in awhile they had 2 that might be suitable. On other HGTV shows they manage to find 2 or 3 that might work but David NEVER does.
Amen! WHY every episode is there SOMETHING that has to be cut? To me says they over estimate what they can do for a homeowner. As you said why not cheaper alternatives.
Get a clue guys. This is all scripted. Hillary always finds a problem and cannot do all she has promised. The guy always shows the first two homes and they are soooo disappointed, but Wa Lah, the third home is just perfect!!!!! Even the homeowners are given the stupid scripts. It's like watching the same show over and over again.
