This is the worst show that HGTV has ever put on. It is doing the design community an incredible disservice by making us appear to be complete imbeciles who know nothing about construction. It depicts the process of design and construction completely unrealistically. The "surprises" that inevitably result during the remodel phase, might make for great creative tension and drama, but they completely misrepresent how this process would go. If ANY of these surprises are really real, the people (I refuse to call them designers) involved are criminally negligent, and whatever building authority let the project happen is criminally negligent. Not to explain to people that the work being done requires structural engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, not to mention permits is ridiculously oversimplifying a complex undertaking and doesn't do anyone in the design and construction industry any favors. We now have to put up with clients that either expect miracles to just happen or believe designers to be the most irresponsible profession in the world. Take this show off immediately or offer disclaimers that this doesn't really represent how home remodeling works. To the commenter who offered us haters the advice to "Love it or don't watch it" you're getting your wish I'll never watch another piece of this trash again.
