For those of you who have come up with "show ideas" you probably don't realize HGTV doesn't take their programming ideas from random "suggestions" on these MB. Too many loopholes and nightmares for their legal departments.
I don't agree that they are "wasting" time by passing on show ideas. Someone suggested a show on "down sizing" and I think that's a great idea. And if enough people suggested it or if a clever producer looking out for new ideas happened to read it - why not?
I know there is a lot involved with ideas for shows being acted upon, but if you go to the chat line and make a suggestion to the ladies there, they will forward it to the programming department. A suggestion might give them an idea to work on and maybe something will come of it. It is a long shot, but what can it hurt. You also get a feeling of satisfaction when you let them know your views on their network programming. This is just my 2 cents worth.

Back when they really HAD an "Abby" who answered questions in here, she was quite adamant that "show ideas" from viewers in these forums were absolutely NOT considered because of the liability. You need to go thru the channels, production companies or wherever to come up with the idea and get it all polished. There are WAY too many people in the woodwork who would come in and say "HGTV stole my idea", so they have to adhear to the process.
