Thank You so much for your coverage of the parade and Lovely in HD and NO friggin commercials !!! you guys rock, even your hosts were tolerable, keep up the good work, this again, was greatly appreciated.
I agree that commercial free coverage is great. But I personally am finding some of the commentary "jokes" not just distracting, but at times offense.
I too think that the announcers are beyond tolerable, they are horrible.
This is the parade I look forward to all year long. And in the past HGTV has had fabulous coverage, not to mention how wonderful it is to have it commercial free. But this year, this year it is infuriating! The most exciting thing for the hosts was the B2 Bomber. The drivel has so little actual information. The commentary is empty. The jokes aren't funny. And there seems to fundamentally be a lack of background knowledge that would actually spice things up. Lowest common denominator. Pitifully disappointing!
I'm sorry, but these are the worst group of hosts EVER. With perhaps the exception of Robb Weller, who I know has done this before, they are clueless about the most generic topics. If I were an executive at HGTV, I would be embarrassed. Please bring back the fellow who had the long running gardening show (I think his last name was James). He has more class in his little finger than those two will have all year long.

In years past, I have always watched the HGTV Rose Parade coverage. But the last three years have been bigger and bigger disappointments. You brought in a new commentator this year, who has no experience with a live show, who got LOST IN HIS NOTES, and let the public know about it. You skipped floats last year, and your cameras can't show the front of the float if they pass by your booth; such a huge disappointment. Not only do you advertise in the corners of the screen, you advertise in your printed commentary. That is NOT ADVERTISEMENT FREE. The next commentator to say that the float has all organic material needs to be shot- this is the rose parade- it should ALWAYS have organic material. Just because the years have gone by does not mean you can lose the core of the show- the floats. It isn't about the interviews crammed into the sides, it isn't about the singing latest Disney star, or the B-52; it is about the work on the floats. Can you not respect art? Sometimes, silence is better than bs thrown in the sides. I'm sorry, but if it doesn't change next year, I'm not even going to watch the Rose Parade. It's not worth it, advertisement free and all.
Thank you for wonderful coverage of the Rose Parade. It had a wonderful director- the pictures and talk were nicely coordinated with the staging ground, floats, and camera work. The float information was mixed with ad-lib banter in good timing, and allowed us to see the float detail while hearing the band music. The team worked well together. We'll continue to watch next year. Kudos for a difficult job well done.
I agree with khush. With the exception of Rob Weller, the commentators were horrible. I don't care where the commentator lives or where he got married. I want to hear about the details of the floats and parade participants. Additionally, the new commentators were talking over each other - I almost turned the sound off! I chose HGTV for the focus on the floats and the ad commercial free coverage. I know you will start planning for next year's coverage tomorrow. PLEASE reconsider your commentator selections. Thank you.

I agree! I can no longer enjoy watching this program. So much is missed with jabber from the other hosts. Rob Weller is great as usual. The host down in the parade is distracting and annoying. I hoped this year would be different or like years past. No more HGTV Rose Parade for me! Too bad, I used to look forward to this every year! I hope some execs read these messages!

Remember when HGTV had great coverage of the Rose Parade because the anchors actually knew something - anything - about roses, flowers, and plants. Robb Weller has been consistently good but where are the likes of Paul James, Rebecca Kolls, Jamie Durie? Now HGTV uses the Parade as a vehicle for promoting non-gardening talent like Chuck Nice who is a comedian by trade and can only read his note cards or make dumb jokes. The single positive feedback I have is it is nice HGTV still broadcasts commercial-free. But overall the coverage quality has gone way down. My observation is HGTV has moved far far away from the "gardening" aspect and towards the home-remodeling-makeover side of things. Dear HGTV, there are still actual gardeners out there who want programming! At a minimum your Rose Parade coverage should be anchored by people who are knowledgeable about plants...which is the entire point of the Parade, by the way.

I agree Reithya. I was disappointed greatly this year in the coverage of the parade. I do appreciate not cutting to a commercial. But I would like inform announcers. The horse fetlock comment was ignorant. I love the floats but the camera angles are not good. The float detail is not shown well at all. I noticed the decline, like you, about 3 years ago. I would like to see less marching bands with more of the horses and floats. What was up with the wedding. A wedding ceramony does NOT belong in a parade. I bet a lot of money was passed to have that happen. I know the wedding was not under your control HGTV was just covering the parade. I hope things improve for next year or I will find another channel with better coverage-commercials or not.
PLease replay the 124 Rose Parade - we would love to see it again. Any chance you could announce if you are replaying it on Twitter or Facebook? The parents of the marching band kids would love to see it again... Thanks

Liked the commercial free coverage, wish I could said the same for the hosts. Narration was boring!!!! Even the dog went back to sleep under the table and my husband was snoring. How in the world some one during a world wide telivesed event can't tell the difference between a city on Colorado and a state and city of a different name in a different country. Maybe I was also falling sleep and misheard it.
Personally I found the HGTV coverage refreshing. The commentators humanized the parade and made me laugh. I love seeing the parade but get bored to tears hearing nothing but how many and what kinds of flowers it took to make the float. I love that it was commercial free. The only thing I wish is that (1) there were more close up shots versus blimp shots; and (2) that the parade could be repeated on HGTV. Thanks HGTV for stepping out of the BORING commentator routine and adding the human element and some humor while providing excellent coverage of the parade.

Reithya, I think you need to treat yourself to a trip to Pasadena to see the Rose Parade in person. You cannot imagine the feeling one gets as members of the military appear and the military aircraft flies over - it is totally awesome. A good reminder that we have great men and women fighting for our freedoms - including having a parade to celebrate life and art and talent. Maybe you did not like the Disney tunes, but those kids worked hard to earn their way so they could be in the parade - and they played very well. The floats are amazing and certainly the mainstay of the parade but not the only thing the parade is about. Since you respect art, a trip to the parade should be in your future. You can see and smell the flowers and afterwards view the floats up close.
