Is Love it or List the ONLY show on HGTV anymore?? No matter what time of day--or what day, for that matter--that I turn the channel on, that show is on!! How very very very disappointing you've become. I think I am done with HGTV. Sad, so sad...
here's how i see it, this is what i will call the h o n e y b o o b o o phenomena they used to spend lets just make up a number maybe 20 million to air sarah or whoever. then they realized that they could put shows on that didn't have a ton of union workers, just get some normal people who will do the show without pay....now they've cut the production budget down from millions to lets say 40 bucks. now the CEOs and shareholders have more in their own pockets and we're left with nothing we want. thanks hgtv - i cancelled my subscription to your magazine today because i didn't want to find out it was only going to be pictures of houses i could by in states i dont live in

I agree with all of you. I tune into this channel to learn things and see new ideas. Not to watch reality tv which is really not reality at all. So tired of seeing these things so scripted and with actors. Holmes and Ahmed on Yard Crashers are the only two shows I watch anymore.
Property Brothers seems to be a Marathon. Every time I venture to check out HGTV it is always Property Brothers. It could be worse ~ It could be International House Hunters which I detest. Why do I care what kind of home someone wants to buy in Brazil, Australia or even Hawaii? It's such a stupid idea and who cares anyway?????? (most people would like to be able to just take a 3 week vacation, let alone buying a 2nd Million $ Home in Hawaii)
NEW SHOWS PLEASE!! I'm in house hunter ****! It's too much program director, please bring more creativity and bring back the design shows...less of this reality tv bologna!!
Who gives a crap about the million dollar shows, what about the real people who are paying big bucks to have HGTV as part of their tv package. Do we really care about those people who should be helping the world instead of their egos...seriously HGTV ... start giving us what we want!
property bros and love it or list it is so unbelievable. These people wouldn't stay in business in real life. THe dramatic surprises are unforgivable-termites, no load bearing wall, non functioning A/C, rotten air ducts,, no insulation, plumbing leaks, roof leaks, rotten trusses, on and on. What happened to contracts not to exceed, contingencies One surprise and these clowns would be history if it were me

I am so glad to see that I am not the only one, that never gets to watch HGTV anymore. My husband and I are sick of all the real estate shows. I used to love to watch the DIY kind of shows. I am an artist, and search other channels for painters and crafty DIY episodes. I don't get the DIY Network channel; but, from what I see on that menu, it doesn't look like it has much better programming than HGTV. Whatever happened to the HGTV network, that I used to watch?

I just registered today because I, too, cannot stand it any longer. I was so relieved to find so many people with the same opinion as mine. I do not enjoy watching love it or list it-the homeowners are horribly rude and it doesn't make sense that no one had any agreeable terms from the get go. I enjoy Sarah Richardson and Tommy Smythe, Candance Olson, the Junk Gypsies, and other true artists and designers. I join with the others and beg of HGTV to get back to their roots and stop with the "reality ridiculousness" PLEASE

I agree! I quit watching hgt because I cannot stand the lineup. What's happened to all the creative decorating shows? Hgtv used to be the only channel I watched. I am saddened by the loss if dhows like decorating cents. I used to be so inspired by that show. What's the deal? Please bring back shows that inspire us not bore us to death with reality property shows.
The dumb Love It or List It has to be THE most annoying.. always the same situations, people getting mad and snotty. Ridiculous. This channel started with decorating and showing us how to. They need to get back to that! And gardening? That's never on anymore either.
Give us back Sarah Richardson, Candace, Vern - and what happened to the Design Stars? They disappear too! Ridiculous!

I signed up on this site just to add this post. I'm sick of the real estate shows. Yesterday I saw one with a couple who could NOT live in their 1000 square foot home with their kids and dogs so they ended up refinancing and taking their savings out and putting that in, too so they could move to a bigger house. Their house wasn't going to sell for what they owed on their mortgage. How about settling for what you have?
I'm so sick of the real estate shows. And yesterday I saw David Bromstad post photos from the next Design Star. Why bother? Where are Antonio. Kim, Meg, and Danielle? I could understand if some of the hosts have finished their contracts and don't want to host a show, but can that be true for all of them?
At least one host was asked, on Facebook, what happened to the show, and the host replied "Good question." So even they don't know.
I agree. I am so sick of repetitive programming. I just switched over to the HGTV channel and Elbow Room, a 30 minute show, is on repetitively until 7:00pm. Why can't they put one episode of multiple programs on instead of 6 hours of one program? I think it is time to let the sponsors know we won't watch anymore.

The current programming *****. What happened to the classy design shows. I repeat, what happened to the classy design shows. We used to watch HGTV all the time, but now Million Dollar Rooms, Selling LA, and the like are just turn offs. Literally. Give us some good design shows -- new ones. Who are you catering to -- the shows used to be directed at people with a creative spirit, now it seems you are focusing on who has the money.
I am so glad I am not the only one who feels this way!!! I am home sick for the last 2 days and there are some really good shows ( my favorites, Sarah 101, and today the new show with Meg, americas best kept secrets, Candace Olsens shows) I dont understand why they are on at 8am-11am every day and i have to watch House Hunters, Love it or list it and property Brothers EVERY NIGHT!!! 7 days of the week!!! What is wrong with you people!!! no one likes it! we are all tired of these shows ALL THE TIME!!! I have asked all my personal fellow HGTV watchers!!!
I can't stand it anymore either. I have to go to the Food Network just to see Tanya Nayak and Tom Bury doing restaurant makeovers on "Restaurant Impossible". "Design Star" is a joke anymore. Why bother choosing someone for their own design show when it's only going to run for 5 episodes before disappearing?
HGTV has sold out to all the pituitary cases that watch TV for no other reason than for idle entertainment. They have completely turned their backs on anyone who is interested in anything pertaining to home renovation and design, perhaps because their target audience is still living at home with their parents and not interested in those things. Meanwhile, everyone else suffers. No integrity AT ALL. That's what's happening on cable TV in general these days. And it's only further dumbing down society as a result. I don't think they just respond to societal trends, they encourage them. All in the name of the almighty dollar. Personally, I think there are much more enriching ways to make a buck. Try not alienating your core audience, for a start.
I totally agree with all these posts - Where is the old HGTV!!! Why some many repeat shows and nothing new? Spring & summer are around the corner why can't HGTV have a show about outdoor ideas so you can get prepared for the new seasons. What are your ratings now compared to a few years ago? Can you respond or are we just writing to vent our frustrations!!! Please put on some "NEW" shows!!!!!!
I joined this forum because I have become so frustrated with HGTV. I have always loved it and watch it often. However, lately the false drama interjected into the shows is unbearable. It is the worst on Love IT or List It but now I see it is on Property Brothers also. I am hoping it is a programming error and HGTV will return to straight forward presentation of houses, ideas, etc. Right now the channel is in danger of driving people away. Perhaps a rival network will provide some competition. Depressing
Believe it or not, HGTV does pretty well in the cable network ratings. Perhaps it's time they reconsidered their measures of popularity. Their ratings are higher among all age groups than between the 18-49 demographic. Perhaps their ratings are higher among all age groups because more kids are watching and they're alienating the adults. I think I was probably right when I said that the shows are appealing to "pituitary cases", meaning teenagers under 18. They are not doing so well with adults. They should reconsider their tactics, IMO. They're supposed to be a network for adults, not kids. Plus it's the adults that have the money to buy things if they want to impress advertisers.
Even cable network is realizing the public is beginning to use streaming devices to view their shows. Will HGTV/DIY (Scripp Network) join them?
Right now, we can view episodes from the site. There's an advantage for this type of viewing; an accurate way to gauge the viewing audience preferences. There are also many shows (episodes) that have been cancelled and viewers are requesting them. If it hasn't been mulled over, please bring this up as an option.
And, I have taken advantage of Canada's HGTV site, too. It's like getting to see how cousins in other countries are decorating.
