I love HGTV. I keep my TV tuned to HGTV about 90% of my TV viewing hours.

I DISLIKE Salvage Dawgs. What were you people thinking - putting a show like this on HGTV?
The only worse TV subject I could think of than Salvage Dawgs would be a Kardashian.

Thank you for your time and consideration from a long time HGTV fan.

I think there is a message in salvage shows like this .We need to think more about the world and older buildings .I know about the mill in Mayodan and have by a dozen or more times since moving down here and that was a huge building .I even know Mayodan has the only town called that because 2 rivers meet and run through there the Mayo and the Dan rivers ..I have also seen the Robert E .Lee hotel and they are in the process now of restoration .I also have seen them recycle parts of the Dan River Mill and you can buy flooring from there .This places will be gone forever but not forgotten ,because of salvage places like this .Yes sometimes there is more behind a show if you look at it closer .Just like Building Alaska and Bill May and his family showed us .Thank you for real life people that see the world in a different eye .I am sick of seeing people buy houses .I see that comment on here all the time and agree .It is called home and garden tv for a reason .The garden got lost . Confused I know I only speak for me and everyone has there own voice and this is mine .I have to tune into PBS to get garden shows .

Hey at least it is somewhat original content and gives you a break from the House Hunters and House Hunters International Marathon.

It kind of reminds me of American Pickers on another channel.

If you dislike the show, don't watch it. Complaining here won't do anything to change HGTV's line up. Scroll down this board and you'll see 95% of the posts are about peoples LEAST favorite shows.

Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.

My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Thanks for your replies, Sparky & Sissy. Is there anywhere on this site to send comments to the folks who do TV programming for HGTV?

Lolly,
Go to the bottom of the home page and use the contact us link.

The general consensus is HGTV doesn't really care what we think. Take a few minutes reading the posts in this section and the favorite shows threads. HGTV Community Gal Abby hasn't been working at HGTV or on the website in over a year. If you look at the HGTV Dream Home thread you'll note it is for the 2011 Dream Home. They do almost NO Maintenance on this part of the website.

very true all they want is us to subscribe to there channels and pay extra to the cable companies or buy the products the advertise .If you sit and add a show verses commercials the shows are around 12 minutes long and the rest is advertisement .But lately that is on all shows on all the channels .

Thank you again, Sissy and Sparky. I can see by your Post counts that you know these boards.

It is sort of sad when a company ignores their fans' input. It seems that only the most engaged supporters would try to navigate to these boards, and thus, their input would be valued.

What keeps you two on these boards? There must be some value you find? What are the positives that you do find in posting here?

Lolly,
I mostly hang out at the remodeling boards. I enjoy helping folks with their remodeling questions. The traffic at this site is way down and boards can go for weeks without a new post. It didn't used to be that way. I've given up on a few sites I used to go to but keep coming back here. I've gotten to "know" a few folks here and enjoy the give and take. I've learned from some of the long time posters.

Thanks for posting back. You're new here and if you scan through the boards you'll see a lot of people register to post one question or rant and never come back. It is generally a friendly place, although on the gardening boards the claws come out between certain posters. It is funny in a sad sort of way.

Sparky - I am interested in remodeling. I'm going to be putting my house on the market in a few years, and will need to update it. Can you point me to the right place for this type of discussion?

Thanks in advance.

true sparky and it just seems people don't have as much time these days .Updating a home can mean anything from just paint to general declutter and a clean house .When you update think about making it more appealing rather than all new .I gave my house in NJ a good look with a different eye .But what helped most I got a home inspection that helped tell me what the bones of the house may need to look more appealing to buyers .These days seems thing go out of date faster than they hit the market .I figured if I addressed all the have too's first then the rest would be easy .

The remodeling board towards the bottom of the boards here at HGTV. With real estate questions try the real estate boards here as well.

Thanks Sparky for the pointers on the boards.

Sissy, I agree that styles change almost as fast as I can blink. The home inspection is a great idea. Fix the bones and then use the left over funds ( if any ) to make it sparkle. Thanks

I like Salvage Dawgs. I LOVE to see the stuff they find in these old buildings though I don't always agree with how they make it over...sometimes the stuff should just be left as is.
