    Just wondering about trends...

    1. Do people ever tile most of the bathroom anymore or is it just the tub area?

    2. Is there a size tile (I'm talking the old-fashioned kind of tiles that most of us grew up with) that's trendy? One-inch squares? Three-inch squares? Subway tiles?

    3. And what about grout? White? Contrasting? Same color-as-the-tile?

We have installed large ceramic (12 x 12) tiles in 2 bathrooms before and they looked very good. We will install large travertine along with the small glass tiles in our master, it has the original 1 inch little tiles in a muted gold from 1962 the tub and sinks match, it's not too bad but it needs new life. I suggest that if you can go to a real showroom where they have on display different tiles, fixtures etc. you could really get a good idea of what you want. The trend now is to have the grout color blend with the tile colors unless you doing splashy primary colors. Next year I will be going to Dallas to a showroom called Decor and More a friend of mine bought her granite and ceramic there and it cost her a third of what it would have in this area plus she was able to look at a lot of different styles, almost endless. If you live in the New Mexico area, Albuquerque or Sante Fe natural stone is very popular and you should be able to find all sorts of it. Good Luck.

i have a 1920s house and when i retile, i will use either subway tile or 4in white tile. I would like to put some decorative tiles in, but that project is so far down on the "to do" list..... I would like to put ceramic tile on the floor, but concerned about it being cold. I will have to check into the cost of heating the floor.....

Sorry, nothing about tiles here, although we have a bathroom upstairs that needs to be redone and it is tiled all around the entire room not just around the tub. Hideous! We will be removing them probably this summer. Hi Pez above my message! I just wanted to tell you that's the name of our dog, a Westie. My eldest daughter named him Pez as an alternative to naming her 1st born Pez. Good deal, huh?! Wink
