Does anyone know what the hot colors for spring and summer will be this year? I am so ready to decorate for these seasons!

I don't know about decorating but I keep hearing that yellow is going to be big in clothing next year.

I think I'd like yellow as an accent in a room as long as it was more of a lemon yellow. I'm not crazy about gold tones (just my personal preference). It will be interesting to see if yellow really IS a big color in fashion in the next year and to see if decorating follows fashion.

check out Pottery Barn's latest catalog/web site. Lime green, tangerine Orange, Lemon yellow, white white. lite avocado green, grass green, kelly green, green this and green that. ugh. Green is one of my favorites but not this season.

I am not ready for spring or it's colors yet, i'm still trying to decorate with fall colors.

I'm going back to earth tones a little more, crisp whites, beachy tans, rusty red, that sort of thing. Normally this time of year I crave brighter colors (I'm getting over my love affair with turquoise!), but my tastes are more subdued this year. I don't know how that translates to what's hot or not though. Big Grin

i find that i decorate my home w/ colors that i love....and i don't tire of them as quickly when compared to picking colors because that's what all the stuff in the stores say we should have...Some of those colors i use as the accents..

I totally agree with this about not only colors but styles and materials. Just because something happens to be trendy doesn't mean I'm going to like it. I'm with Becca - I'd rather decorate and dress to MY taste rather than someone else's.

In the past, what I did for spring and summer was lighten up the look of my rooms, where possible, by removing heavy draperies and area rugs. Also, incorporated more houseplants. I had richer tones, gold and reds because I lived in the northeast.

Here, in Texas, where it's spring and summer virtually year 'round, my furnishings, window treatments, rugs and accessories are more streamlined. No layers, no clutter. Paint colors are yellow-green based neutrals to bring the outside in, so to speak.

I am assuming that you are not talking about redecorating you entire house for the spring or summer seasons!

One of the easiest ways to choose colors, if you are revamping just your accessories, is to look at the seasonal flowers and plants. Take a walk through a nursery or garden center and you will have all the inspiration you will need.

From what I am hearing and seeing:
Brown - Dark Chocolate and other with anything gold tones or soft aqua blue.

Goldtones are major - try looking a furniture fabric. Dominates!

I have been seeing lots of blues and browns and it looks nice but I prefer to use colors I love, just look at your wardrobe and favorite things and you will find the colors that you can live with for longer than what is "hot" right now.
