I prefer HGTV's "old" AM lineup but would like to really see some NEW segments instead of the same ones I first saw over five years ago. My DH and I have a small antiques business; we repair when possible (or we don't sell it) and paint the furniture that has rough and/or downright ugly finishes. We can't keep the painted furniture in stock! I'd love to see a "Shabby Cottage" type show mixed with some primitive decor. Anyone else with me? ;-)
All the way,but it seems that HGTV thinks their only viewers are the 20 something set that only shops at PB,Ikea,Restoration Hardware, etc. and goes for the hotel chic, bland retro modern look. UGH! Don't even get me started!!

it would be nice, but, hgtv is catering more to contemporary styles and targeting the desires of younger viewers. ever notice the craft shows?? new crafts, young hostesses, and trendy fashions. dont look for country style to have anything but reruns........... ( i think i have taped them all!)
"I can't use a cell phone in the car. I have to keep my hands free for making gestures."
Country Style was taken completely off for awhile; I was all excited when I saw that it was listed again but completely disappointed to see nothing but reruns. Any idea why they won't tape fresh ideas???
I'm with you! Country Style has always been my favorite HGTV show, and I would love to see new versions of it. This style is classic, and will never really be "out". To me it seems like a lot of the new HGTV shows in recent years have focused more on the TV personalities than real decorating for real homes. Just my opinion I miss the old shows.
I wonder if HGTV thinks the word "Country" is turning away possible viewers. Maybe if they renamed it something like "Living in the Past" would be more appealing to them. The show basically emcompasses antiques, collectibles, repurposed items, old fashioned gardens, etc. Most of the people I know who have cable really enjoy the show. Makes me wonder who they (the network) is listening to.
I am a "shabby chic" devotee. . .and I was always at work when Country Style came on . .but I watched it every chance I got. Something about the show just made you feel good. That's the spirit evoked by that worn furniture, old milk pails, white kitchen tiles, etc. Restful and serene. I agree about the show's name. . .could have been a turn-off.
How about: "A L'il Bit of Country" or "Memory Lane"

I wish to put my vote in for continuing this great show. As I have stated other places, "country" covers a myriad of styles. Many ideas could be adapted to traditional, modern, eclectic, spanish, etc. The re-runs have now been cancelled. I am now browsing and trying other channels.

Those are great suggestions! Or how about something with the word "cottage" in it?
I agree with Coffee Bean - I liked Country Style because it was just so relaxing to watch. The title song and scenes of wash on the line...ahh how I miss it!
i'm with you 100% We need a Country Style show maybe Cottage and Romantic Style. There are lots of us that crave the simple life~~ if we can't get it out and about we want to come home to it. Please HGTV listen to your longtime viewers, your going to be losing alot of us if you don't give us the shows we want to see.Alot of us are stay at home moms or grammys, and this is the way we live.Just look at how many hits the quilting/sewing message board has ~~~~ far more than any other topic on the board. We were very disappointed when you took the quilting and crafting shows off. I think most of us fall in the country/cottage/garden themes in our homes....we would LOVE some of those shows on the air,and so would your advertisers, just check out how much money is spent on quilting and crafting...and we would love to spend some money in our homes from ideas we get from some shows, that have our style of decorating on them. Please listen to your viewers (or soon to be ex viewers) if we don't get some shows with our interest.Your line-up needs diversity, something for everyone....Does anyone agree with me??? Let them know. Vintagelisa
I do NOT like any of the new shows. Just don't watch anymore. Please bring back "Country Style" and a good quilting show. Enough of this elementary crafty nutty stuff. I do not want to cut up rusty tin cans and such.
Thank you for this topic! Please, HGTV, stop stuffing the contemporary look down our throats. I'm just not interested anymore, and you are losing me. Anything with the word "cottage" would work I think.
I would love to see a show with an updated cottage/country/romantic theme. There are a lot of us who live in homes that don't blend well with the "urban chic" of so many of the shows on now. I would even dare to say there are people in their 20s who prefer something more romantic.
I wish I had the money to produce a show geared to the casual traditional lifestyle....started in the countrysides across the world. There are so many sub-styles within "cottage" style that there would be plenty of directions to pursue.
