I am in the process of getting certified as a home stager. Any suggestions on which company to get certified through?

    Dear Markus,

I highly recommend Home Staging Resources. I have spent thousands of dollars on other programs such as Staged Homes and it is not worth it. Home Staging Resources delivers what they promise but you must have a passion and eye for decorating.

    Hi Markus

It really depends on where you are located. I have taught ReDesign and Staging for several years now, and the process of certification is pretty vague. Barb Schwarz (sic) association is geared towards realtors, emphasizing the business basics of staging, where other organizaitions have a stronger lean into the design process, which is the correct way to stage.

I have always taught staging with an emphasis on psychology. I would recommend that you train with someone who has an eye on other aspects of the design business, you will learn a great deal more and be more valuable in the long run.

Markus, it is true that Home Staging in general is more geared towards sellers getting there home market ready and with that you need a network of Realtors to help you get started in the business. I do mostly Staging to Live or Redesign work. Any hands on experience you get is invaluable and learning to execute priorities. What the above posters stated is true but region of the country you are in will also dictate your services but you have to educate people (your potiential clients) on what services you offer. The reason I went to StagedHomes to get training was that in 2005 their was an article published in Newsweek about them (Barb Swartz), yes the training was expensive but so was my degree in Science (which I have never used up to this point doesn't mean that I will never use it). Just see what fits into your budget and what market you are trying to capture. I have never regreted any training that I have gotten, ever. And anyone that tells you that they know everything and not to question, stay away----Prima Donas the world is too full of those and they never grow. In this industry/field you are always learning!!!!!!!!
