I'm sorry, it takes a lot more than the correct usage of the word "space" to prove or disprove someone's sanity, especially around here. Nevertheless, welcome to our boards. Sorry. Welcome to our HGTV What's Hot/ What's Not board. Better?
Actually, the only time I've ever seen HGTV at all was one time when I saw two shows at a hotel--I don't have cable at home--and the only thing I can remember was the general cheesiness of the two shows' makeovers, both of which involved turning a boring, featureless room into a cheap-looking over-the-top "Glam" room with a lot of purple paint, mirrors & plastic beads, lots of plastic beads. They should have called the shows "How to flush $1000 down the toilet." I mean, I could have decorated two rooms just as badly but I could have I could have done it in half the time it took their no-talent teams and still had enough for a nice dinner & some ties. But I digress.
Anyway, I don't watch, but, as a professional decorator, I do use the word 'space' all the time. Not, of course, because it's some secret designer code word that makes me cool--which I am most definitely not--but because it's easily understood. By most people, that is. It's the difference in saying "I'm going to the store for a snack" and saying "I'm taking the Hispano-Suiza down to Caviar-R-Us for a Dr. Pepper & a Moon Pie." It's why a mitten fits more people than a glove. Overspecialization leads to unemploymwnt, and in the case of certain large amphibians, extinction. Nobody wants that.
As the great Chicago architect Mies van der Rohe said, "Less is more", and as somebody else asked, "Why use two words when one will do?" so space it is.
Anyway, welcome to our space.
Regards, MAGNAVERDE.

So MAG you and I are the only people in America that do not have cable? I'm sure of it the way people look at me when I tell them! Nice to know at least I'm in good company.

ROFLOLMAO!!!! Oh, you definitely read my mind! If glue guns and MDF went out of style, they'd have to shut down HGTV!
Hi, PA Trojan, and welcome to your and your wife. If you decide to stick around this adorable funny farm for awhile you will find there are many words as well as "space" that might almost drive you "somewhere". Just focus on the good stuff that happens here and you'll do OK. There is good decorating in rooms as well as spaces, sometimes some craziness to add to the decor, and often a lot of fun. Hope to see you around.

Lol. We don't have cable. We are definately in the minority, especially among our friends and other 20-somethings! We watch a LOT of movies (over and over and over again.)
