My front door opens to the living room and dining room. Can I do 2 diffferent, but coordinating fabrics for the windows. The dining room has a double window and a smaller one between built-ins. I was thinking of pinch pleated drapes for the double window and roman shade or soft austrian shade for the other window. The fabic is a soft butter with cinnamon flowers on a silk material. Would cinnamon walls look OK if I do the Living room in a cinnamon and gold stripe.
I recently bought a house that was just screaming WHITE everywhere. Like you, my front door opens into my living looking at my dining/kitchen (it's a small home). My accent color wall in the living is a deep red to match the new couch on the opposite wall. The rest of the living, dining, and kitchen is a golden color. The curtains I did range from an accent curtain as you enter to pick-up the colors on the walls, the rest of the living and dining have white shears and roman shades, and the kitchen has a burnt orange cafe curtain. I know it all sounds like a mess, but it works well together. I wish I could attach photos to show you, but I am new to this and haven't figured out how. The color pallete should suit you, your taste and your desires. Just remember, the home is yours and if you don't like it you can change it. Hope this helped.

if you're timid about the color, paint a focal wall the cinnamon color and the others a taupe and later if you like it paint the rest cinnamon when you do another update. gio

I also recently purchased a new home, when you walk in the door there is a living room, dinning room combo. We are not one for color, usually everything cream or white. We painted the main wall pumpkin toast and the remaining walls Golden Harvest, we then hung maroon curtain. The main wall that the pumpkin toast is on, has a fire place with cathedral ceiling. The furniture is tan, the throw pillows have the burnt orange, gold , and burgundy in them. Now I don't know how to pull it all together. I need real help.I tried to do a color splash and it splashed back.
