I'm in a bit of corner here.

We bought a new home, and our 11 year old daughter needs bedroom furniture, asap. She likes this bed, but it does not include any night stand, dresser or desk.

My question is this: What would be the kind of dressers, night stands, or desks, that would suit this kind of bed? Her room is small and she also needs a desk for her computer and do her homework. The desk is a must because she likes to do her homework in it and not anywhere else. The night stand is not a must but something I thought she would need to put a light or something else. I was thinking that perhaps a small dresser could do the job of a night stand too.

How can I combine this bed with the needs of a night stand, dresser and desk?

Thank You for any ideas or help you can give me.

you could get one of those round tables that you put a table cloth over for a nite table...Then for the dresser, why not check out places like Good Will for a dresser. It can always be painted and look brand new!

Here's kind of a long-shot idea, but it might work:

Instead of a night-stand, just get a cool "floating" shelf mounted in the wall next to the bed. Find one that's deep enough for an alarm clock, glass of water, some books or a lamp. For that matter, you could get a wall-mounted sconce or reading lamp to take up less surface space.

For the dresser/desk dilemma- how about getting a dresser with a really sturdy back, and actually putting a hinged desk-top on the back of the dresser? You could maybe even put the dresser on casters or wheels so that the desk can be folded down and rolled toward the wall when it's not being used. Otherwise, you could put the dresser perpendicular to the wall, so that one side accesses the drawers, and one side has the fold-up desk surface.

If that doesn't work, you could still make a wall-mounted hinged desk-top that could fold down along the wall when not used. It would save floor space, and be easy to put up when needed.

We went through the tween thing a few years back. Now they are on to 'real' furniture.

Our son had a black metal, bunk bed, futon thing. To stick with the black theme I bought inexpensive black laminate furniture. The bedding was black and blue striped. I threw in a few other royal blue items so the room was not dark and Goth like.

Now for a girl wanting a black bed I would do the same thing. Except accent with purple, hot pink and/or lime green.

Buying inexpensive black or white furniture is not hard. There is a ton of stuff out there for dorm rooms.
