The DH looks great. The only thing that seems out of place are chandeliers in the garage. Just my personal preference. Love the great room and the master bath. Smile

I just took the tour. Great home this year. I especially like the fact that I don't see any nearby homes, just wide open spaces...how beautiful!

My family used to vist Park City to go skiing every winter in the 70's and 80's...it's a beautiful and peaceful place.

It would make a great summer home for us!

I thought I saw a home in the distance when I took a peek yesterday. In a previous DH they said the chandelier in the garage was in case it was converted into a room . I don't know if that applies here. I need to go peek at it all.

Hooray! I finally got my internet connection back in sync with my laptop, or vice-versa. Whatever.

I entered to vote on the housewarming gifts for the first time this year. The outdoor living space/grill is really a central focus for those gifts. Most of my choices are leading the voting, so all is well.

Why are these homes always built in the middle of nowhere with no other homes in viewing sight? Roll Eyes

Dreams Homes are essentially donated by the property/business owner who wishes to advertise and promote their up-market housing development. Many of the homes are among the first built in the plan.

One of the big concerns that many on the message board have is that many promised future amenities are never built by the developer because the remaining lots are never sold. Case in point is the home from 2008 in Islamarada, Florida Keys. The DH was the only one ever built. None of the other 6 lots sold, the pool was never built. By contrast, the 2007 home in Winter Park, Colorado was more attractive because the community amenities were already built and in place.

Since most people entering the sweepstakes will not be able to afford to keep the home, regardless of how much they love it, a cash option (included this year, BTW, along with the $500k cash) is a very desirable safeguard against a 'soft' housing market.

Found this info today when looking at the HGTV Remodels site about DH2012 regarding 'siting' the DH, meaning choosing the location on the lot where the owner wants the home to be built...

"... To create a feeling of isolation, HGTV Dream Home 2012 was built on a plot of land that comprises two homesites. "We’ve positioned the home right on the property line that was the delineation between the two lots," says architect Corey R. Solum. "We treated the home as an island." ..." (emphasis mine)

I have to win this year! The house and location are perfect! I like living in New Hampshire, but am from Utah and used to play in Park City a lot, so this would be a great way to be able to show my kids where I used to play. I would definitely want to keep this house! Nice job again HGTV.

Nurse Judy,
I would like a formal dinning room in a $1.3M home.. One I could seat 12.. This eat in kitchen concept is for 8.. How to you like the location of the TV in the Family room? My family room the TV is the center of attention not a after thought with two arm chairs in front of it sideways to the viewing screen..
Anything is nice for free but these people call the sellfs designers?

All the dream homes are beautiful but I have to say this one I like the best so far. I love the rustic/modern look. The rocks on the walls and the wooden mirrors. The guest bedrooms everything is beautiful. I love the hittin deck and the entertainment deck. All the different room. And the play room off the sitting would be perect for my girls. I'd be able to have my parents stay with us and the fact that it's on the river makes it that much more amazing. My girls love to fish and so do my brothers. Everyone would be in heaven if we won this home. Good luck to everyone.

Wouldn't it be WONDERFUL if they would give away MANY $300,000 homes instead of this million plus home???? But I think the same way about lotteries...why the huge amounts? Why not less millions and more winners of thousands?? Am I the only person that thinks this way?

Most states have lotteries of every different amount - from instant tickets that may win you a few hundred dollars to the multi-state jackpots. More people enter the larger lotteries, so you just don't hear about the smaller amounts on TV. The same thing probably applies here - if they had smaller houses, the contest wouldn't be as popular.

There are other homes close by. It's just positioned perfectly on the land to be private from the other homes. However, this home is built on the main road leading from the highway into Midway so there is a lot of traffic that passes the home. I don't see it as a problem because the house sits so far back on the property that I don't think the road would even affect you.

Rarebare, I like the eat in kitchen as most days you would be fine. Days where a big group might be there, I would set a table in the greatroom just adjacent to the kitchen and you would have room for everyone and you would still be all together. That long table in the family room could be moved for such occasions and you then have seating for 16 which would be great for my family holidays and visits and times when friends come also. That is the neat thing, furniture could be moved in the home to suit the occasion.

I would be thankful for such an opprotunity to live in such a beautiful, well decorated home with fantastic views. Again HGTV did wonderful.
My dreamer is running full power this year! Smile

Larki, you already know the sweepstakes and lotteries start out small. Lotteries grow weekly.

I agree with you on the DH prize size. If this were `2003, the value would be $700,000.

HGTV started out small. Its sweepstakes has a fixed, annual total value, charging no fees on which to thrive.
The sweepstakes feeds on supply and demand and dreams. It could go under as an LLC. They live on the concept of venue of products and ideas. Coffee

So excited! Just booked our tour to see this home. Coincidentally and thankfully we will be in Park City this weekend (from Texas) and can view this first hand. My husband and I fell in love with this home and we want to build one just like it. That's of course if we don't win this one. Wink
