Use the 360˚ virtual tour four the bunk niche and look at the wall over the top of the stairs right next to the ceiling light. Zoom in, Is that a door? A Mr. Bill size door? What would that be for? Do they put doors on an attic in the Carolinas?

I'd guess it provides access to an air handler, there's an air return on the wall just below it.

Oh, I love these inquiries.... it gives me an excuse to go back and look at the virtual tour again
