Hello i have a question when we moved in our townhouse years ago, the builder put these standard white laminated counters.

I wish to know can they be painted, or is someone can recommend a good cleaning product for counter tops. I going to refinish the cabinets so i though i look into painting the counter tops in the kitchen .

I painted mine at our river place, so they don't get heavy use and are holding up fine. You do need to prime and cover with a few coats of non-yellowing polyurethane.

Here are directions from Christopher Lowell. He's the one who inspired me, although I just painted mine a solid color rather than granite.

You guys are more brave than I. While I love to paint, I just think it would be a nightmare to paint the countertop -- how does it stay nice without chipping from all the use? Can you post a picture if you do it? Would love to see results.

I painted my counters at our mobile home at the shore. They look great. They look like granite. I lightly sanded then used a tinted primer.... and then sponged away....... sponged until i got it just right...... blended and a little speckling as well. then 6 coats of poly!
Also, there is a product called envirotex that can be used instead of polyurethane. I havent used but hear it works awesome! There is also a spray paint made by rustoleum, that is a faux stone/granite finish in several colors that can be used instead of sponging.
