Space above kitchen cabinets Sign In/Join
posted
We have unusable space above our kitchen cabinets that is built into the cabinets. Basicslly the cabinets go to the ceiling but the upper space isn't usable. On an episode of Love It or List It I saw a similar kitchen and the solution for this space was to light the indvidual cubbies and cover them with frosted glass and frames that resembled the cabinets. Is this an easy/expensive solution? When I moved in, it was just covered in drywall and painted like the walls. Any other ideas to fix my exposed upper cubbies?

I am sorry but I don't understand how your kitchen is now. Do your cabinets go all the way to the ceiling, have a space or have drywall? Perhaps a px would help.

Elena,

Please try to xplain it again. I don't follow what you're saying either.

If the cabinets go to the ceiling, then there is no space above the cabinets.

I actually think you're describing a soffit drop and the top of the cabinets are touching the soffit which is usually about 12" below the actual ceiling. Post a few pics will ya?
