We have a new range to install and the manufacturer recommends a non-combustible surface behind the range. At this time all we have is the primered drywall at the range' location.

What am I to use? I thought of a sheet of stainless to rise to a height of just short of the range top.

Any ideas? Thanks

We use a mirror behind the electric range back, up to the cabinet height and wide as the range. It reflects the outside window view across the room, is easy to clean, non-combustible, and good feng shui. Wink

I think drywall is pretty much considered non-combustible. A sheet of stainless would be pretty pricey to hide behind the stove.

What kind of range are you getting? I would imagine any typr of range for use in a home would be okay next to drywall.

Cleanability would also be a big factor behind a range. Any type of tile, ceramic, glass tile or sealed stone, would all be easy to clean and be a pretty background. We have a neutral colored tile above the counters all around our kitchen (and under the mirror).

If you want something very inexpensive, plexi glass cut to size and hung with mirror fasteners works well and is easy to keep clean.
