Has anyone added glass panels to their existing door fronts? How did you do it and where did you get the glass?

Can be done! You will need a router to cut away the wood and create a recess for the glass. Get the glass at a glass shop, or if you want something fancy, look at www.rockler.com. You will need a thin wood strip or the like to hold the glass in place.

Do this cautiously as it may leave you with more view than you want. Some pretty dishes are nice, but clutter is not.

I had my dad route out the inside of my doors and picked a reeded glass that I could buy in large sheets from a stain glass supply store. I used window glazing to the set the glass in the doors. My only advice is that if you have a piece of glass wider than 12 inches or so, you will need to reinforce the top joints of the wood frame, because the weight of the glass will rack the door out of alignment. I used metal mending plates across the top joints on the insides of the doors (epoxied and screwed).
