We are first timers at countertops and need to get corbels (need 4 total; bar countertops are 12" deep) to support the bar countertops. Any recommendations for the most practical corbel (size, brand, weight) to support quartz countertops? Cosmetically we aren't too picky but want it to look great! Any suggestions???? Thanks!!! Smile

A local cabinet retailer can order you some corbels. There are many different selections. The more ornate, the more expensive. You can also purchase online.

If slab is 3/4" thick, you really don't need corbels or support for overhang up to 12". If slab is less than 3/4", then extra support would be a good idea.

I recommend corbels to support the top. Someone is going to try to sit on that top sooner or later! You can get a variety of corbels - at a variety of prices - by just looking around. Try a home center or a molding store.

Ladybug, I ordered my corbels from [link removed because of poor customer service from this company -mrs mctaupe]
Ordered them on Wednesday and UPS scheduled to deliver today so I'm very happy with the shipping. I have a thread over on the kitchen design forum and will post a picture once we have them installed.

I have Caesarstone Quartz - they require support for overhangs of 12" or more if stone thickness is 2cm (3/4") and for 16" or more if stone thickness is 3cm (1 1/4"). My bartop is only 8" overhang but because it is raised, still need corbels.

What brand/color of quartz do you have? I'd love to see a picture! good luck with the corbel search!

Mrs. McTaupe, Thanks so much for your reply. I have noted your corbel resource. We are getting Caesarstone Brand w/ Gold Abyss color. Install is not complete yet. But will post pics when available. You have an 8" overhang...hmmm wondering if ours is too big at 12". Do you have barstools for seating in case of entertaining or daily dining? Let me know for possible reconsideration. Smile

ladybug, yes, we have barstools and have always been comfortable sitting/eating at our bar. I looked at your color on the Caesarstone site - very nice! I look forward to seeing your pictures!
