You can paint them. The finish won't be very durable but if you are careful, it will work. Read the painting topic on my website at www.bobf.info.

I just posted the same question and came across yours. Did you try painting and if so did it work? I am desperate to change the look but I don't want them to look worse!

If you have plastic laminate (not vinyl contact paper type) doors, you can sand, wash with TSP to remove all grease and soil. Prime with oil-based primer. Paint with acrylic or enamel paint. Your paint job and durability will be as good as the surface prep and quality of paint used. Use quality brushes and rollers.
