changing kitchen cabinets but not countertops Sign In/Join

I installed new quartz counter tops several years ago, but now I would like to change out my cabinets. Has anyone done this or had it done, i.e. keeping the existing counter tops but changing cabinets? I'm thinking I could just get new doors/drawers as I want the same white color.

If the boxes are in decent shape you can re-face the cabinets with new doors and drawer fronts. It doesn't save much money over replacing the boxes, but it is much faster. My neighbor had it done late last year, the crew was in and out in 2 days.

Replacing the boxes and keeping the counters requires careful removal of the countertops and replacing the cabinets with exactly the same size and configuration. You could swap out a base cabinet with a drawer base unit but they'd need to be the same width.

Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.

My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
