Can anyone enlighted me as to why undermount stainless steel sinks can vary so dramatically in price when the product descriptions and specs are the same? For instance, I have priced an undermount stainless steel sink made from 304 stainless and 18 gauge. The name brands ie Franke and Elkay are substantially ($700) higher than a lesser brand even though the appear to be made of the same stainless. Am I missing something--should I stay away from the low price sinks? Im spending alot on my kitchen remodel and I would hate to make a drastic mistake for the sake of price.
Thanks for your input.

Welcome to the boards... hope you'll share ideas with us ...we love pictures...
I looked at Franke at some of the box stores but I wanted the oversized & at the time Blanco was the only one that had the 36" sinks ...I pretty much questioned it too...

I happened on the one I wanted as a store was closing ...and snapped it up.

If it were drop in ... you know you can always change it but with undermount ... you want it done right to begin with...

one thing I wished I'd done is bought the protective grids from day one ... but being the cheapie I am ... I didn't want to spend another $350 for that...

Not all ss is the same alloy... look at the nickel content and then the finish comes next.
If you want a gleaming chrome looking reveal and a nicely polished finish that will last it has a have a lot more nickel in it!

Forgot to mention how well insulated is it for sound. Those garbage disposal can get pretty loud on a non sound deadned bowl. How is it formed is something else that seperates the price... depth of bowls, one piece, welded seam and polished, there are lots of things that effect the cost.

Well, I would have loved it had I known about Overstock when I put in the Franke sink we have. I paid twice what that one on Overstock is, and we have a ridiculously small second sink on the side, not larger like the double on Overstock has. Oh well. Smile
