Slide-in Gas Range Too High for Counter

I just purchased a GE slide-in range: (http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100386092).

It turns out that the lowest setting of the feet is still a 1/2 inch too high for my granite countertops. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for what I should do. I could either take the feet off, which would make the fit perfect, or add some kind of filler on the counter to rest the range on. Does anyone know if it is safe to take the feet off and have the frame resting on the ground? I called GE and they couldn't help. Any other ideas? Thanks!

My limited experience is that the range should set a bit higher than the counter to make cleaning easier.

I would suggest calling a repair shop or appliance parts store and ask them. They have more practical experience than the cust rep you get at the manufacturer who is only trained to handle certain questions.

Please forgive my response to your question as I won't be much help to you but hope others can heed the advice.

Have you renovated an existing kitchen or is it new? Have you added a new floor around old cabinetry and not raised the cabinetry or made the allowance in the countertop?

Unfortunately the slide-in has a range of adjustment much like any standard stove but is more noticable due to it's close tolerance with overhanging the countertop.

Someone should have advised you on your cabinets being too low to accomodate a slide-in.

To answer your question about taking off the leveler legs, it's probably not a good idea. It is advised to have anti-tip brackets installed and the back leveler legs slide into these. Not to mention the possiblity of scratching the floor when moving it to clean underneath

I looked your stove up on the GE website and pulled up the Stove installation specs. In them it states the range of adjustment. If you had a professional working on your kitchen, they should have looked at these.

This should also be considered when putting in other appliances like dish washers, bar fridges, etc.
