Okay - I bought a house where the majority of fixtures and knobs are brass-tone. In the master bath the brass drives me nuts. Can you mix metals? I have a glass shower and all of the framework is in brass and I would prefer not to have to replace the entire shower. Plus, I have to change the doorknobs, cabinet hardware, hooks on doors, towel bards, faucets, etc.

Any ideas?

Yes, you can mix and match and most major brands make fixtures that combine two different finishes so you don't have to change the old brass tub spout, for example. Check online or at a local big box for ideas. Or, buy the new finish you like in most of the bathroom, then do a mixed shower door handle or mixed shower controls in the shower area to blend it in. Does the shower door have a metal edge too -- is it brass? If it's chrome, you could use that to pull in a brushed chrome throughout, which is nicer than a polished chrome. good luck!

Everything is brass-tone including the edging on the glass shower. There are no other metals even down the hinges.

Anyone know how to remove the fake brass from the fixtures? I have the same problem around the shower walls and doors and it looks terrible with all of the new brushed nickle fixtures! I don't want to spend $500. for special order shower walls and doors (ours isn't stock size)It has worn off of the jets and drain in the garden tub so I know it is possible to remove it but don't know how.
