I want to put ceramic tile on back splash but the countertop extends further out than the edge of the cabinet so do I start with the edge of the cabinet or stagger diagonal to the edge of the counter top or ??? Does anyone have any pictures on how they did theirs.

No pictures but what we did in SoCA was to install tumbled marble to the edge of the cabinet at the one place where that occurred.

Then over the cook top we installed an accent area of diagonal tiles set in a block outlined with thin matching tile strips.

The result was spectacular!
